To make a long story short, that's just another way to take nicotine. Substance abuse is substance abuse, I guess.

It's not just about the nic, there are other things to the habit. I know it maybe hard to understand for a nonsmoker, but there some like me, who enjoy the habit. Plus, you can buy liquid that has no nicotine in it. Of course the reaction would be "whats the point", but again, it goes to the whole habit, not just the chemical.
I enjoy plenty of "less than healthy" habits, for sure, including caffeine use. Though I can go without coffee for days without any problems. Toss in social smoking on and off as a college student, and a complete failure to register any effects from occasionally smoking pot in the past, and I'm starting to wonder whether I just got lucky with my metabolism or something.

I guess I didn't quite mean this to come out quite the way it did, and I certainly wish you the best of luck in your endeavors.

I understand the psychological and social element to the smoking habit, yes. My wife quit smoking with Allen Carr's book ("The Easy Way to Quit Smoking"), which I can recommend to anyone who's looking to drop the habit.

Cheers!

I've never smoked, but i've been thinking of taking up ECigs so that I can take smoke breaks at work and be social with my fellow bar patrons and party goers on the weekends.

Anything that helps you break the habit and has a lessened negative affect on your health is to be applauded ... keep up the good work!

I smoked a pack-a-day for 37 years, and tried to quit in many different ways, at many different times. I finally succeeded "cold turkey".

Why the difference and success? I really wanted to quit ... deep down. When I had the urge, I just plain didn't act on it, and I eventually no longer had the urge.

I loved smoking and still miss it at times, and if it didn't smell so bad or have such deleterious affects on the body, I'd probably start up again.

Anyway, I personally needed to get to the point where my desire not to smoke was greater than my desire to smoke, and it was just plain easy.

The other times at which I tried to stop, I was doing so for other people or doing so because I felt I needed to, yet deep-down I still wanted it ... that was the secret for me, and I realize it's not the norm.

I'm not saying anyone should wait until they maybe get to the same point, because many never would, but that's what finally worked for me. I'm at five years and crossing my fingers for the ten-year lung cancer rule.

Here's hoping. ;)

Best of luck, man.  Sounds like they're working out for you, which is fantastic.

Agreed! I'd echo the good luck, but it's about willpower + determination here, not luck.

Haha, that did bring a smile.

Joking aside, it's not easy when you don't want to quit like Bahku said. I quit a couple of times on the past because I wanted to, the physical desire left, but the mental desire was always there for me. I foolishly started up again over a couple of stressful times in my life. For me, there were few things better than having a smoke with coffee in the morning or while having a few drinks.

My experience is pretty similar Bahku .. I smoked for 20 years and gave up 3 years ago this month .. It was because the desire to stop became greater (1st kid on the way and never wanted him to see me doing something that daft!) than the need to smoke.

I actually got a sick and it laid me out for a week in bed which gave me the jump on the cigs.  After a few days the actual dependency is gone all you're left with is habitual.  The rest I just put down to pure belligerence .. I would not let myself smoke!

For any smokers reading this it can be done!  I smoked roll-ups and smoked 'em like they were going out of fashion! .. if these vapor cigarettes help then use 'em .. in the end though you just have to flip the switch yourself ..

Good luck!

btw . .. Bahku, yep, still miss 'em too!
Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

i have seen these lately.  i was wondering what the legality around them is.  can they be smoked in a public place where regular smoking is prohibited?  is there an age requirement to buy them?
