If I was Ainge I would think about doing this deal.

Boston trades: Rajon Rondo, Jujuan Johnson

Boston receives: Jimmer Fredette, J.J. Hickson & their 2012 pick unprotected.

Although Boston would lose their floor general & offense initiater, I think Jimmer could open up our enemic offense with his shooting. Pierce would have to become more ball dominant, but it is a role I think he would relish. He's plenty capable! I could easily see Pierce averaging 8-9 assist a game in a point forward role. And with Ray Allen & Jimmer spotting up Pierce double teams would be limited. Although Jimmer can handle to ball well, he wouldn't have the pressures of a typical rookie PG & could concentrate on scoring more while learning how to play the true PG role with the teaching of Doc. And JJ Hickson would be the Shot in the arm with the energy he would provide with his youthful legs & he seemed to be a person who plays hard in his limited role. Hickson & Bass would be a excellent 2nd wave of bigs to unleash on teams. And with a unprotected 1st maybe would could strike gold & get 1 of the young upcoming Superstars in the draft. I would even consider just swapping the clippers pick with their pick if I had to. The Clippers will not be that great, they are playing well & will make a playoff run.

No, no, no.

Has Jimmer done anything different then Morrison did as a rookie?

Jimmer definitely hasnt impressed me this season. He can flat out shoot i will give him that, but he is so UNATHLETIC! Gets abused by every player he is guarding.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

Meh.  Basically trading Rondo for the Kings' pick.  If it's a top 5 pick, maybe . . . but that would have to be a draft day trade.

Remember Rondo wasnt SPECIAL as a rookie Remember. And besides a incredible finals game, we wouldn't have any game of significance over a 2 year span. So as of rookie to rookie on parallels, Jimmer is having a better season & will become a very good PG! And remember it was TELFAIR Minnesota wanted more than Rondo in his rookie season because he wasn't that good. Rondo is a great talent, but not one who could propel Boston to great heights post BIG 3 & I think alot of you don't seem to realize that. So why not get a young adequate PG back & a future superstar maybe with their 1st & trade Rondo to a team who has the complimentary pieces going forward like Cousins, Evans, Thompson who could use his creative wizardry & ball distribution. Rondo will want out of Boston if we dont land Howard or equivalent. The kid is spoiled by winning at this point & would be frustrated with a rebuilding process.

I do not trade Rondo in the 'hopes' Jimmer becomes good.  There is a reason he wasn't a top pick in a weak draft class.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
If we could get a pass first, top tier (doesn't have to be an All Star) point guard who's at least 6'5'' then I might consider. Other than that, pass.

Jimmer is a 6'2'' shooting guard. I don't see him as a point. He's bad defensively but he can stroke it, I give you that. The 2012 pick could be Barnes, Drummond, Kidd-Gilchrist. But it all comes down to the floor general. Jimmer isn't it. And I'm sure as hell to not put him as the SG. So unless we could find a assist man who has SG size do he can defend SG's, nevermind.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

@Wdleehi... He was a top pick, he went in the lottery. And if your are going to use that, Rondo was drafted at 21 by Phoenix & immediately traded. Not alot of teams wanted him either. Rondi was bad for 2 years until a playoff game finally validated him. Jimmer is young & could become a Mark Price type player over time. It is no doubt he is a very hard worker & gym rat. He will definitely become a ALL-STAR offensively in this league. And to those who say he can't defend, Nash won 2 MVP's that way & nearly won a 3rd.

I don't consider the 10th pick in a weak draft a top pick.

I consider top 3-6 depending on the draft.

And I don't trade Rondo for a slow, small SG who's numbers are looking Adam Morrison-ish.

No. Jimmer is horrible. He's going to be lucky to have a Hedo Turkoglu career, at best.

Ottawa Celtic people are not blind they are just opposed to change. They clearly dont see the kind of talent I see coming back at the back end of this deal. Barnes, Gilchrist, Randolph, Rivers. And on top of that replace the position you are trading with a guy with upside potential. I saw BAD celtic ball from 94-2007. Don't wanna see mediocre years with Rondo stat padding 3-4years from now.

Rondo looked pretty special as a rookie, and the team played significantly better that year when Rondo was in the game. Jimmer isn't having a better season, I think "nowhere near as good" would be more accurate. And it wasn't TELFAIR that Minny wanted, it was Rondo. Minny and Seattle both wanted us to include Rondo in the trades, and we refused to in both cases.

And when the Kings improve with Rondo, the lotto gods don't favor Celtics again, the team ends up with the 8th pick and a slow, small shooter for Rondo.
