I am just not in the know with this BC football Spaz thing. I don't get it. He's trying to get kids to go to a cold good academic school with no major history of sending kids pro...well not lots anyway.
This isn't true. Currently BC has 20 players on NFL rosters.

Alex Albright   Dallas Cowboys   Linebacker
Will Blackmon   New York Giants   Cornerback
Ron Brace   New England Patriots   Defensive End
Tim Bulman   Houston Texans   Defensive End
Anthony Castonzo   Indianapolis Colts   Offensive Tackle
Gosder Cherilus   Detroit Lions   Offensive Tackle
Marc Colombo   Miami Dolphins   Offensive Tackle
Jo-Lonn Dunbar   New Orleans Saints   Linebacker
Rob Francois   Green Bay Packers   Linebacker
Antonio Garay   San Diego Chargers   Defensive Tackle
Matt Hasselbeck   Tennessee Titans   Quarterback
Mark Herzlich   New York Giants   Linebacker
Mathias Kiwanuka   New York Giants   Linebacker
Dan Koppen   New England Patriots   Center
James McCluskey   Oakland Raiders   Fullback
B.J. Raji   Green Bay Packers   Nose Tackle
Matt Ryan   Atlanta Falcons   Quarterback
Chris Snee   New York Giants   Guard

The school is known for putting out some of the highest quality offensive linemen around on a consistent basis, probably a lot of that credit should go to Spaz.

But Spaz is not a DI coach and his recruiting abilities suck. Boston College was a borderline top 25 school for a decade or more before Spaz took control and now the slide is pathetic.
Matt Tennant   New Orleans Saints   Center
Jeremy Trueblood   Tampa Bay Buccaneers   Offensive Tackle

I am just not in the know with this BC football Spaz thing. I don't get it. He's trying to get kids to go to a cold good academic school with no major history of sending kids pro...well not lots anyway. Certainly not like some of the schools they recruit against.

He put in his dues and was left with young kids and transfers at QB and still got to a bowl and made trouble for other teams.  Do you think that Jags would be doing lots better after losing those guys?

What exactly did you expect of and expect of Spaz now?

It just seems to me realistic expectations for BC is like a top ten appearance once a decade, 2nd round draft pick every other year, usually pecking at top 25, occasional losing seasons after losing senior QBs, and Spaz only seems about a year removed from that and you still got a Butkus award winner and continue to cause headaches for Tom O'Brien, which always makes me happy

Look, I think Spaz is a good guy and very solid coordinator.  I've met him in passing and haven't taken anything negative out of it.

The problem is that he's a career coordinator who's now trying to coach a D1 football program.  He's not a head coach. I hate to say it, but he's bit of a dinosaur.

When it comes to recruiting for BC football right now, its like bringing a pencil sharpener to a gun fight.
I admit I haven't been overwhelmed by BC recruits lately, but you guys have a history of finding great great players nobody wanted and them becoming the best around...Flutie, Ryan, Luke K, Bill Romanowski, Jamie Silva, that running back you have that just got hurt...you know the one.  I can't think of lots of 4 star guys that everyone wanted that went to BC and led the team to good times.  The only top recruit I can think of where you guys really beat out the rest of the country was Tim Hasselbeck

Scott Mutryn was a big coup for BC at the time.  Dan Henning era.  Unfortunately, then he actually started playing.   :P

Also read somewhere that the school most represented at this year's Super Bowl is.....drumroll....Boston College.

BC has success but they aren't top 25 all time or present and lots of their guys aren't high picks that overachieve like Koppen

this was interesting

There's one 5 star commit for Stanford.

Add to it the two 4 star offensive line commits, it's looking like they're bulking up the protection for Barry Sanders Jr.

And another 4 star DB. Waiting for that 5 star DE Aziz Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.tu to commit as well.

Yeba! Good looking NSD for Stanford.

Troy Bell to me is maybe the best BC guy that never became anything up there with Glenn Foley, but at least that guy made NFL starts.

Big day for UMass and new head coach Charlie Molnar, as it rolls out its first recruiting class for its first FBS season. I am sure the Minutemen are going to take some lumps the first few years, but I am looking forward to the increased competition.
Home games are a two hour ride away....

What was that school thinking??

The stadium in Amherst is kind of a dump. There is a huge number of UMass alums who live in eastern Massachusetts and the hope is they will get interested and attend games at Gillette. If students want to go to games, they will provide buses. The plan is to upgrade the stadium and facilities and move back to Amherst, but we shall see.

UMass -- 24 recruits, including 3, 3-star and 2, 2-star. Probably should expect a couple of tough seasons as they make the move up. I like the new coach and he seems to have brought in a solid staff.

Oh I know what the thought and plans were. They are just really bad IMHO. The students aren't going to jump a bus to go watch a game they can't tailgate or drink at. The students who go to the games at UMass party in the dorms and walk to the games and party immediately after again up in the dorms or across campus or off campus. All within a very close area.

I also think they will be giving away tickets to most games at Gillette as attendance will be abysmal.

Students don't go to the games anyway. They got decent crowds the last two years for their games against UNH at Gillette 33,000 first year, 24,000 this past season (probably lower because UMass was not as good a team this year and could not qualify for FCS playoffs). They will be bringing some fairly big names into Gillette eventually.

Here is a little more info on the stadium plans, which are moving ahead: The concept that was developed would increase seating by 9,000. This would bring the current capacity of 17,000 up to a total of 26,000. The increase of seating capacity would also require site improvements including the addition of up to 2,000 parking spaces designed as unpaved stabilized earth in existing turf fields near the stadium

And more from a good source: The stadium improvements are not just talk. An architect is in the process of being selected and the improvements will be completed on or before July 1, 2014. There will be a 38,000 sq. foot facilities building and a new press box with club seating of some kind. Unless something totally unforeseen happens, this is definitely on track.
