Forget Varejao, and go get Demarcus Cousins.  He's young, rebounds really well, and plays down low for the most part.  His upside is higher than Varejao's and he could be an absolute beast playing next to KG.  I also think he needs someone like KG around him right now to keep him honest.

Rondo, Dooling, and the Clippers pick for Cousins, Garcia, and Fredette.  It works on trade checker.

Same question regarding Cousins.  Is he a good defender and will we have a drop off in defense with him as opposed to JO?

Cousins, not going to happen.  No defense.

Sideshow, not likely to happen.  Plays good positional defense and team defense.

Here is a list of the top rebounders, in order. I've highlighted the most obtainable IMO.

Dwight Howard, C
Kevin Love, PF
Andrew Bynum, C
Anderson Varejao, PF
DeMarcus Cousins, PF
Blake Griffin, PF
Kris Humphries, PF
Pau Gasol, PF
Marc Gasol, C
Marcin Gortat, C
Greg Monroe, C
Tyson Chandler, C
Roy Hibbert, C
David Lee, PF
Marcus Camby, C

I personally like Humphries.

As we saw against LA, Bass is undersized.  His jumper is great, but the shots are all wide-open, so let's not get carried away about what he brings to the table.

He's probably our best trade asset, and a size upgrade would make the team better.  We've got Wilcox to slide into his spot at backup PF.

KG/Wilcox/JJJ
Varejao/JO/Steimsma

That's the ticket right there, a good, deep, big front line.

Package Bass with Dooling and a pick.

Make those phones ring, Danny!

i think they can do better.  plus, i think for this trade to really put us in contention we'd have to keep Bass.

Agreed.  I want Andy more than ever after last game showed we might be one more impact big man from being a true contender (as in, we could win it all, and it wouldn't even be a huge fluke), but I just find it hard to believe that teams won't offer the moon for him.

the moon?  maybe not so much that.  but i tend to think there are some other competitive teams that could offer a more enticing package than the one that was proposed.

OK, yeah, overstatement.  But, I think the conversation starts at cap relief and 2 first rounders.  And would go up from there.

Cleveland will want more than an expiring and a 1st rounder for Varejao.
