Between this season and last season, I think it might be time to start wondering if Rondo is "injury prone."
He didn't miss a ton of games last season, but he was severely hobbled by plantar fascitis for the second half of the season, and then there was the elbow injury in the playoffs.
I shudder to think how many games Rondo would miss if he weren't such a tough guy with the ability to play through these injuries.
No need to start thinking about it. Rondo is injury prone, always has been. It's probably his biggest flaw as a player. He's not afraid to toss his body around, play reckless, or fight through pain. Except he has a 175lbs frame. To a lesser degree Rose has the same issue.
Yeah, other than his free throw shooting, Rondo's thin frame might be the biggest obstacle to him playing like an elite player on a consistent basis.
He is certainly capable of dominating for a game or a stretch of games . . . but he has to play so aggressively and sacrifice his body so much that it's not reasonable to expect him to keep it up without getting injured.
He should work on his landings though, they always seem awkward
I think there could be something to this, too. Rondo always lands awkwardly, especially when he dunks.
