Between this season and last season, I think it might be time to start wondering if Rondo is "injury prone."

He didn't miss a ton of games last season, but he was severely hobbled by plantar fascitis for the second half of the season, and then there was the elbow injury in the playoffs.

I shudder to think how many games Rondo would miss if he weren't such a tough guy with the ability to play through these injuries.
No need to start thinking about it. Rondo is injury prone, always has been. It's probably his biggest flaw as a player. He's not afraid to toss his body around, play reckless, or fight through pain. Except he has a 175lbs frame. To a lesser degree Rose has the same issue.

Rondo and Ray two of the best conditioned athletes around. Was wondering if it was wise for Rondo to put on weight during the off season; but be can take the contact a lot better now, just put more strain on his joints when he lands :-\

77g, 80g, 81g, 68g

For a guy his size with his style of play, I'll take that ^

He should work on his landings though, they always seem awkward  :D

Yeah, other than his free throw shooting, Rondo's thin frame might be the biggest obstacle to him playing like an elite player on a consistent basis.

He is certainly capable of dominating for a game or a stretch of games . . . but he has to play so aggressively and sacrifice his body so much that it's not reasonable to expect him to keep it up without getting injured.

I think there could be something to this, too.  Rondo always lands awkwardly, especially when he dunks.

Hanging onto the rim when he dunks it would probably be a useful skill for him.

If its true, pretty disasterous for the C's trying to dig themselves out of a hole and into a solid playoff seed.

Very hard to judge what this team can actually acomplish without their best player on the floor. Pierce has come around nicely but Garnett still looks to have fallen from elite to good defensively and on the glass.

Also, gaining a jump shot and shooting free throws.

I thought they had a sideline report during last night's game that claimed he was aiming for a return on Tuesday.

I wouldn't be too surprised if that were the case.  Rajon seems to be playing a bit of a playful cat and mouse game with the media on the whole issue.

Yeah, hanging onto the rim, even a little bit, when he dunks to slow his momentum and fall straight down instead of into the crowd / basket stanchion would probably make a big difference.

Hard to do that with the elevation he gets, Rondo already can only dunk with a big start and the proper stride into it.

But, he doesn't dunk.  I'm pretty sure he hasn't had a single dunk so far this season.

Yeah.  Rondo seems to be very athletic but he doesn't appear to be a great dunker.

I feel like there is still room for him to improve his landings on his all-out forays to the rim.  Smaller and less athletic players than him manage to get to the rim and lay it in without getting slammed to the floor nearly as much (e.g. Chris Paul, Ty Lawson).

Rondo always lands awkwardly, especially when he dunks.

It's true, he rarely dunks.
