top echelon teams win 60+ games in an 82 game season...this eeason the bar would be set at 50 games...that's approx 6 out of every 7 games the rest of the way...i say we can do it...if we are healthy..a big if though...

how could this be possible?  We already have losses lol.  I think we'll end the season way better than .500, but unless we somehow trade Bradley and JO for Dwight and Deron, I think the 50 win talk is a bit too optimistic lol

No, I don't think so.  We'd have to go 41-7 the rest of the way.  I just don't think it's realistic that we're going to lose two fewer games in the next 48 than we did in the first 18.

For perspective, 41-7 is an .854 winning percentage.  That's the equivalent of 70 wins over the course of a full regular season.

I doubt it. Not with the schedule that looms in March and April.

But 45 may be possible. 36-12 the rest of the way would be a great accomplishment. The one thing we have in our favor this year is more depth, which should help out towards the end of the season.

I'll be satisfied with anything over 40 and winning the Atlantic.

Yeah, when I saw this thread title, this was the first thing that came to mind.

I'll also add, I don't think we should even be worried about our record.  The team really just needs to focus on getting better game by game and finding a way to be at their peak by the time the playoffs roll around.  Part of that includes health.  I would say making sure our vets don't get too worn out would be as important as anything.

If there is one thing this recent 4 game stretch has shown us, young legs can be a real benefit during a grinding season.  Doc needs to lean on the youngsters as much as possible, whether out of necessity or choice.

As long as we make the playoffs, are healthy, and playing our best basketball, I'll be happy.  Winning "x" number of games or winning the division are just not that important.

33-36 wins is the most realistic estimate, in my opinion.

50/66 is .750 ball, and we're currently at .500.  Let's try to at least break 500 before we even talk about that.  Only the Bulls and OKC are play over .750 right now and their records are 17-4 and 16-3 respectively.

You may be right.  But I don't think 40 wins is at all out of the question.  I have a feeling we'll begin to play better as the season goes forward.

40 wins would mean we would have to go 31-17 the rest of the way.  Obviously, based on our current record, that would seem a bit of a stretch.  I just have this feeling we're going to see better play going forward.

Or...I could be wildly off base.  This team is tough to get a good feel for right now.

the one thing that everyone is failing to take into account is the shortened season...the rash of injuries for one thing...but...mainly the inconsistency of play thru the whole league...it will come down to a matter of focus and consistency...which is something i think we will have shortly...the only team out there i think you have to respect is the heat...for example...if okc is your benchmark...i was completely and totally under-impresssed with okc...we were playing horribly at the time and still in the game all the way...

  • It's all about the TEAM!
I think we end the season right around 38 - 42 wins. Which is fine with me considering we started 4 - 8.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
40 if our core 5-6 guys stay injury free.
The scrubs can come in and play good games now and then but if Pierce or KG go down like Rondo has now we are in deep doo doo.

40 or 41 if we are lucky.

Hopefully we will be close to Sixty wins if you add in the playoff victories.

I think 44 and 22 is a good target for the Celtics. They should make winning the Atlantic a priority.

A lot will depend on availability of key players going forward.

I don't think the number of wins is crucial, especially considering the start they got off to. Having the big four and the bench reasonably healthy and playing well when the playoffs roll around is what matters.

Between 33 and 37 wins. I'd bet the farm.
