No.  You think we've already lost half the games we're going to lose all year?  What happens when Pierce stops playing out of his mind?

Rondo comes back and keeps playing out of his mind.

I don't think we'll reach 50 either, though.

Before the season started, and before our bench was set, I called 50 wins, with the caveat that it all depended on getting backup at the center position.  Because I am still not convinced that the center  is adequately deep, I have lowered my expectations slightly...I still think we will have between 45 and 50 wins based the defense of the bench.  I think we can count on experience of the starters to gain leads, and the defense of the bench not to lose leads.  (And, we seem to take injuries and missing players in stride, not losing continuity.) It is a process, but we are going in the right direction

39-27 would be fine with me (9 + 30 wins)-(9 + 18 losses)

that is roughly .650 ball from now on (not that bad if you think about it).

Do so, and please, get to the Playoffs healthy. Everything else isn't important for this team.

Go Celtics!

A better question is whether or not the Celtics can win their division.  9-9 is good enough for second behind the 13-6 Philadelphia 76ers.  At their current pace, that puts the 76ers at 45 wins.  I feel confident that, barring major injury, this team will finish with more wins than the Knicks (currently third at 7-12).  Can they catch up?

I doubt it. Not with the schedule that looms in March and April.

But 45 may be possible. 36-12 the rest of the way would be a great accomplishment. The one thing we have in our favor this year is more depth, which should help out towards the end of the season.

I'll be satisfied with anything over 40 and winning the Atlantic.

I would be satisfied if the Celts played .500 ball the rest of the way and were completely healthy for the playoffs. That brutal road schedule later this season may end up leaving a mark. With 8 straight west coast road games coming up after the All-star break, I'd rather they just save themselves.

At the end of the day, unless a 6th seed is possible, I would rather they play for the 7th or 8th seed.
We all think we know more than we really do....

There's 48 games left and we're 3 down in the loss column. We may or may not win the division but I don't think I'd call that an insurmountable lead.

I don't even think the Celtics win 50 games if you count the post season.

No. 40 will be a stretch. Wait until the second half of the schedule. It is brutal. Plus, looks like Rondo, who was fine the night of the injury, according to Dr. Ainge, will be out another month.

No chance.  The schedule get tougher as the season progresses with more road games and more games against the best teams the NBA has to offer.  40 might be a stretch.

Well, you hit "Reply" and then you hit "Enter". Btw, it wasn't the worst idea for a thread, I could probably find 20 or 30 "Let's trade Player X for Player Y" threads for you  ;)

Don't division winners have home court in the 1st round of the playoffs, regardless of record?
