Does anyone know how front loaded contracts work under the new CBA? If memory serves me correctly, when the Nets missed out on LeBron and the other big FAs of two summers ago, they went out and signed some Bass-like role players to heavily front loaded deals that paid the players big money the first year or two, but very little as the deal went on. Is that possible with Bass?
Because more and more it's looking like we're not going to get a major free agent in 2012. If that's the case, it'd be nice to re-sign Bass, and maybe nab some other nice players and then front load the deals so we can still have cap flexibility in 2013 and beyond.
For instance, could we give Bass a 3 year 20 million dollar deal where we pay him 12 million the first year, 6 million the second, and 2 million the third?
