After two-year stints with the New Orleans Hornets, Dallas Mavericks and Orlando Magic, Bass wants to find a home. The power forward can opt-out of the final year of his contract after this season, but he’s tired of adjusting to new surroundings and hopes to stay in Boston long-term. “I want to finish my career in Boston, if I can,” Bass said. “I want to be here for many, many years. You just want to be a part of something like this. This is history. I want to be a part of this team’s history. I want to make somewhere my home rather than playing somewhere for two years and then leaving.” “I’m enjoying it here,” Bass added. “I like my teammates a lot, I like the coaching staff and I like the tradition in Boston.
Great, love this guy! Lock him up Danny!

I would sign him if the price is right.  He and Pietrus are the energy guys we have needed for years.

Great attitude.  However, we've got to explore what else is out there in free agency before locking up a role player like Bass.

Great! Now that we know he wants to stay, all we have to figure out is will he give us a discount to stay here and sign long term for less than MLE money.

Nice. I'd like to see Bass and his energy for long term in Boston. But for the right price of course. Maybe around 7-8 mil a year.

2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

Well hopefully he accepts his player option this year because if he opts out we have to use more of this years money to sign him but if we could get dwight and green a nd someone else with this years money we would be all set.  Then the following year give himthe 4 year deal he deserves but only if we get dwight because i believe him and dwight play great off of each other.

Does anyone know how front loaded contracts work under the new CBA?  If memory serves me correctly, when the Nets missed out on LeBron and the other big FAs of two summers ago, they went out and signed some Bass-like role players to heavily front loaded deals that paid the players big money the first year or two, but very little as the deal went on.  Is that possible with Bass?

Because more and more it's looking like we're not going to get a major free agent in 2012.  If that's the case, it'd be nice to re-sign Bass, and maybe nab some other nice players and then front load the deals so we can still have cap flexibility in 2013 and beyond.

For instance, could we give Bass a 3 year 20 million dollar deal where we pay him 12 million the first year, 6 million the second, and 2 million the third?

Bass is going to make at least BBD money . . . and probably should get a bit more.

I maintain that 4 years / 30 million is a fair contract for Bass and we probably won't do better nabbing a 6th man / borderline starting PF in free agency.

We have to spend the money on somebody in the off-season, so giving Bass that kind of contract makes sense.

for all the talk about how FA dont want to come here..

its kind of funny to see players like Bass, Green, pietrus only here for just a few months and they want to stay here for life.

I think it speaks to the environment that this organization has created.

now if we can only convince someone like D.howard the same we'd be all set

Something to revisit in the offseason, IMO.

I'm a BBD fan, but I've never viewed either Baby or Bass as a centerpiece to a rebuilding team.

Neither are guys you can depend on as "go to" scorers.

They are both better off playing off of a star. They both need to be "set up" for offense opportunities or they both use their hustle to generate their own offense.

I do feel though that Bass is the superior outside shooter, but he fails down low compared to BBD.

BBD has more "stuff" down low, but is a worse finisher at the rim.

If it's a straight up dunk, Bass wins every time. But Bass has had his fair share of shots blocked and his fair share of turnovers down inside the paint.

I would give Bass a reasonable extension contract, but nothing that would hurt our chances at signing a deserved max contract player.

Strong words from Bass. Pretty amazing how much players love playing here, yet there's this perception that no major free agent would ever sign here. I get that we never did bring in a superstar via free agency, but we were never really in this position in the salary cap era, which is a contender with a highly respected coach, a proven all-star PG in his prime, a few HOF'ers with some miles left , and cap space.

I don't get the weather and nightlife argument. These guys are way too busy during the season to enjoy either all that much IMO. Most players get 4-5 month offsessons to live where they please, that's when you can party and catch some rays.

I really like Bass' game and would definitely love him back, but let's see how everything shakes out with some other FA's this offseason first.

How would this affect our salary cap numbers next year if he accepts option.  That article from yesterday assumed he would decline it and we would have 25 mil to spend.  Would this mean only 20 mil now.  If so then I would think this is prob something Danny would like to know about now.
