I love Ray don't get me wrong.  I just think this team desperately needs more rebounding and a low post option.  I know Utah is loaded with young bigs.  Al only had 2 years left on his deal and Ray would be a great fit for their young team and they could shed Big Al's salary.

He is exactly what we need right now and Pietrus can create spacing on the floor, plus superior D and energy.

KG
Big Al
Pierce
Pietrus
Rondo

Much better balance and more athleticism.  This team with time would be a tough out.

Bench of
Bass, Bradley, Wilcox, JO, Daniels and Moore..

Worked on the the trade machine..

We couldn't get Big Al for Ray! Rondo for Al maybe but not ray alone. Maybe a combo of Ray, JJJ & a 1st. But then we'll have major problems at SG.

given how much better the jazz play with big al in the line up i doubt they make the trade.
If they are making a strong playoff push and looking to improve for a deep run i would offer ray and a protected 1st round pick for katner and bell.

katner is  full of potential but with big al, milsap and favors taking the big man minutes they may be willing to trade potential for a huge upgrade at the 2 guard and cap space this summer.

where katner plays sparingly in utah he would get big minutes behind jo in boston.

  • Anything is possible!
I would pull the trigger here, I love Big Al and i think he is so underrated. But ofcourse play him as Center!

Same with Millsap, so underrated. Those guys are worthy allstars with good FG% and high basketball IQ

This trade can be done without having to give up Ray (who the Jazz probably don't want anyway).

Come March 1st this works:

Big Al for JO, Bass, and Wilcox.  Throw in both of our 1st round picks and go for it.

C-Big Al
PF- Garnett
SF - Pierce
SG - Allen
PG - Rondo

C - Stiemsma
PF - Kenyon Martin (once he's available)
SF - Pietrus
SG - Marquis/Moore/Bradley/
PG - Dooling

No team featuring Al stands any chance at NBA success for reasons that should be evident by now. Under the new CBA, I wouldn't take him for free if such a thing were even doable.

That's a woefully thin frontcourt.  3 frontcourt players for 1 even if that 1 is really good would put a real hardship on this team.  Al is really better as a PF than a Center IMO.  Also, you're pinning your hopes on any vet frontcourt help on Kenyon Martin, who's long past his prime, coming back and signing with the C's.

I love Big Al for his time in green but I can't see emptying our frontcourt for just one player and from a talent perspective, we'd have to cough up more than Bass, washed up JO and journeyman Wilcox.  And, as someone else mentioned, Utah is pretty full in the frontcourt as it is.
