well it looks like the trade talks won't be going away anytime soon (if ever) so I may as well join in...

I know its been discussed frequently but if we're breaking up the big 3, Jsmoove should be priority number 1. The guys fairly young. Hes good, and under docs guidance could get even better. We should do anything in our power (in reason) to get him here as part of the rebuilding process.

Its also possible that his presence could entice some big name free agents this off season *cough dwight howard if he isnt traded mid season* cough. I know people keep saying DH isnt coming here, and that may very well be true, but lets just say that rondo and smith and a max contract could be very interesting to howard if he enters free agency.

Even without dh, smith is a great replacement pf for kg and could really help us. the guys got game.

The struggle is getting him here (why im posting this in trades). He's expressed interest in playing in Boston. Could the celts get him in a package surrounding ray or kg from the hawks? Maybe something like ray, bass, and a pick?

All I know is he would definitely help the rebuilding process. A player that we could get with the members of the big 3 and would help us get into contention.

I like him too but he's too expensive,

however having J-Smoove have 2 benefits, playing under Doc and his buddy Rondo, and in a way can help us lure Dwight. Boston is not in Dwight's mind right now, but since he has express wanting to play with Smith, having him can help us do some marketing...

along with Dooling calling out players not wanting to come to Boston.

and if Dwight still won't come here, well we have 2 first round picks in 2012 and 2 of the big 3 left to trade for other talents and sign some other free agents...

YES YES YES....

this thread is on point!

you first get J SMOOVE and then you enter Dwight's head. Josh and D12 have been friends much longer than him and deron williams.

what team has space to pay 2 max contracts like we will this summer? even if one did, dwight and deron would not be surrounded with the talent that they would be here.

You'd probably have to move KG and some of our picks and young players for J Smith. DO IT

If this next part was possible it would put us over the top to attract a BIG free agent (AKA DWIGHT). Trade Paul Pierce and Ray before the deadline to Memphis for Rudy Gay. Memphis fell one game short last year without Gay and adding Ray AND Pierce would make them SERIOUS contenders in the West.

Our young core going into the summer would be...

Rajon Rondo
Josh Smith
Rudy Gay

Resign Jeff Green and Brandon Bass this summer. Also give offer Ray a 3 year deal and see if he will comeback.

That should be enough to lure dwight here...

Then sign back some of the role players we have now.

The C's 2012-13 Opening night lineup could look like this...

PG Rajon Rondo
SG Ray Allen
SF Rudy Gay
PF Josh Smith
C Dwight Howard
----------
Bench
F J. Green
F B. Bass
F M. Peitrus
G K. Dooling
G M. Daniels

to get that roster we would have to pray that we could get jsmoove and gay without ray. but other than that the roster would be amazing, skip rebuilding. we'd be in contention next year. good post man!

thanks man.

we prob. would have to send Pierce AND Ray to Memphis is order to get Rudy Gay from them. But after this season Ray will be a free agent unless Memphis extends him after the trade. I could definitely see him re-signing here after the season. Why would he turn down starting for a beast team like that

Gave you the tp haha I love the roster idea. I was definitely thinking something along those lines when I made this thread but you def made it better with the rudy gay idea. Anyway even if we couldnt get ray back I'd just throw green in the starting line up, the team would still be great.

I'd like ray the most in the lineup though

I'm in for getting Jsmoove. However, I want it without trading our 1st rounder. We might just wait for 2013 free agency if the latter is required.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
The only way I ever want J Smith here is if he guarantees to bring Dwight Howard. Other than, let some other team overpay him.
Guy isn't even in the top 30 players in the league. Maybe top 40?
So overrated (In my opinion). Keep Jeff Green for half the money.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

What about this?

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7svn3ow

Not sure if we would have the cap space to go after DH12 though.

Smith: 13.2M
Rondo: 11M
Avery: 1.6M
JJJ:   1.1M
Gay:   16.4M
---------------
Right there is 43.3M. Roughly 15M under the cap. And that's without Mayo or Green. Might have to swap out Gay for someone like Granger or Iguodala.

I honestly think he'd be better under doc, sort of the way bass has improved. the talents there

No.

He is payed like a star.

He is a fringe all-star that isn't good enough in the halfcourt.

He may be our only choice...I think as Boston fans some of us may be too picky.

Remember - Josh Smith WANTS to come play with Rondo...no one else WANTS to play with him or come to Boston.

Get the man here...I'd rather pay someone who WANTS to be here, rather than beg some of these other folks to come here.

He has a very good defensive rtg..94..Dwight Howard, in contrast, has a 92 Drtg.

The man isn't perfect, but he's young and can improve. Get him here with Doc, and he will grow.

The "nobody wants to play with Rondo" is a claim that you hear on the blog from people who want to get rid of Rondo, but that's about the extent of it.
