johnson is like a young ray. good 3 pt shooter and can prob come off screens better

Thus far in his NBA career, Johnson has averaged 8.5 points on 39.4% shooting.  Currently, he's shooting 25% from three.  He is *nothing* like a young Ray Allen (who was averaging 19.5 points in his second season).

Johnson looks like a bust, or at least close to it.  I don't have a lot of interest in him.

Is it true that Ray is going to Minnesota for Wesley Johnson and Luke Ridnour? I just heard it on talk radio...it would make sense I guess.  Also a Boston 2nd round pick was thrown in?

Wow. This would be like Danny helping Sheed go to DET.

Well, it would be payback for them giving us KG because Ray on that team would make them REALLY good.

on the other side, I thought Wesley was gonna be a nice player in the NBA but it looks like something is not quite right for him because he should be playing better in this Minnesota team as it is currently put together.

I donĀ“t understand, trade to Ray would be a great great mistake, Ray is still the best shooter in the league, is incomprehensible that the rumors I read.

Just my opinion, to trade Ray for those two guys would be a legendary screwup.  I'd resign him to lower contract and keep him before I'd do that trade.

I can't find links anywhere that this is in fact a rumor. The only thing I DO know and DID hear was on ESPN a few days ago about if the Celtics were to trade any of the Big 3 where would they go and Minnesota was a team that came up.

It wasn't based on any knowledge beyond the fact that they knew Wesley Johnson had been under performing and with the drafting of Derrick Williams you know Beasley is most likely the odd man out. So with that knowledge they said maybe, maybe but probably not.

I, personally, am not sure what I think of Wes Johnson. He has been not performing well and could be a bust... or could be that Minnesota was using him wrong... after all it is Minnesota and Rambis was not a good coach. I wouldn't want Wes, Beasley or Ridnour though honestly. Minnesota would have to throw in a 1st round pick in order to take on those headaches/busts.

I agree I wouldn't trade for Wes johnson because he stinks, wouldn't trade for Beasley because he's a free agent this offseason. I would trade ray for ridnour and williams thought if Minny wanted to win now and thought that a legit 2 guard with Johnson/Beasley at SF made them more of a complete team.

This deal isn't happening... dead issue.

based on what?

Upon the idea that they both played tonight, and outside some guy posting this on Celticsblog, it's NOWHERE to be found.

no evidence that it will happen, but no evidence that it won't either. Calling it a dead issue because you don't like the trade is not a good reason

Um, where did I say this?  I didn't... I simply said it's not being reported anywhere outside of this thread.  It has no real credibility and is just a rumor posted someone here at C-blog...

...and the ORIGINAL thread said "BREAKING NEWS" in the title, so that's where my comments came from (and the title has since been changed).

Uhm, yes you did. You stated it very clearly on another thread in this forum. It's not like you went to even another forum, you should expect that some of us read more than one thread. Yes, it's a rumor, not breaking news or even close to it, I stated that a few times already. That still doesn't mean there is zero chance and the topic is dead, as has been made clear by now from the interest that this thread is generating still.

It's neither, and Ridnour has two additional years on his contract, so it eats into our cap space, too.  And we're supposed to be giving up a draft pick, as well?

Obviously, it's just a made up sports talk radio rumor.  However, I'm surprised that some Celtics fans seem to be in favor of it.  It's really a pretty bad deal for us.

This rumor made me sick to see and after digging a bit, there is absolutely no truth to it whatsoever- I found a fan from Twolves blog who through the idea out there in their trade forums..beyond that, this one has zero legs.  ;D

yea seriosuly

If we were going to do anything with Minny the only deal that makes sense to me is PP , Steimsma and maybe JJJ or a future pick for Webster, Derrick Williams and Brad Miller(expiring).

Don't see Minny having much interest in such a deal though, they would want to give up Beasley instead of Derrick Williams and that would be a deal breaker for me as the c's could just sign him in free agency next year( not that I want them to)

Yea, I 'm sorry, this sounds like more of an idea someone on sports radio discussed and now it's being mistakened as a rumor. Nothing wrong with that, but like others have said, this isn't even in the "rumor" zone for me.

I liked the trade. I thought it was a good deal.

A quality young player who should be a quality starter in the league for the next 8-10 years and a rotation quality point guard (above average backup PG).

If Danny can get that type of return elsewhere, I'd be happy to see him to pull the trigger.

How do you define "quality"?

I really don't see it as a BAD deal for us.  Trades like this may be our only shot at a bright future.  Yeah we take back extra years on Ridnour, but how would you use that money in FA.  It's not looking like K. Love or D. Howard are coming to town and after them this FA pool is pretty shaky.  So instead of letting Ray walk or bringing him back for the short term, we take a chance on a Wesley Johnson.  Sure he hasn't shown too much yet, but he's been on a pretty bad team with bad PG play(until this season).  Rondo and Doc will give Johnson every chance to succeed.
