johnson is like a young ray. good 3 pt shooter and can prob come off screens better

i admit here and now that i dont know squat about johnson. but i looked up his stats and after two years in the nba he shooting percentages are grim.

FG 39%
3PT 33.8%
FT 68%

yes he is young, but please convince me he can make shots in the nba at anything but a poor to mediocre rate.

honestly, bad young talent is the worst possible situation for boston to be in.

Rebuilding has to start somewhere, as long as we don't eat our cap space on risky projects then I'm ok with it. We aren't going to get young all-stars for any of the big 3 at this point. Wes Johnson looks like he has great potential and is reasonably paid. A fair enough return for Ray.

Hoopshype is my source of rumors. Info haven't read it there it's not out. I think. It's not saying anything about any trade except for an article saying "we need to move on.".

But just for the sake of discussion. Can we have Anthony Randolph and Wayne Ellington instead?

Totally agree, Johnson would actually be a risk, but could become a very good player.  We would at least get something for Ray, because he won't be back next year anyways.  Were not going to get any All Star caliber players for any of the Big 3 right now anyways.  Ridnour is serviceable, better than Bradley right now, and can also play along with Rondo??

  • Rondo = Good

bleh.

i'm just not seeing the motivation for Minnie.  their cap situation is fine, and they shouldn't be in win-now mode.

I like Randolph and Ellington as well.  I think Minnesota is trying to make a push for the playoffs and Ray might make the difference in that young starting lineup, at least for this year.  Plus you need to add a knock down shooter to surround Rubio, because Rubio cannot shoot the ball at all

we should have took beasly. wes is very athletic tho and a good shooter. he could be in the dunk contest also a good shot blocker for his size. if paired with rondo look out!

Maybe after beating the Clippers last night, they think they can win now, especially since they have one of the top 10 players in the NBA right now.

yea, in a lockout shortened wacky season, anything can happen. The t-wolves are young and on fire with Love and Rubio. If they add a veteran presence to guide them who can also shoot the lights out they may believe they have as good a chance as anyone. Wade looks like a train wreck this year and so do the lakers in general, and Rose is nowhere near 100% either. The field is more wide open than people think.

Well put.  Anything can happen in this season and Minnesota is on fire right now.  Ray Allen wouldn't hurt them one bit.

I love the idea of Johnson, and he has great wingspan and defensive potential. But he's already 24 (!) and not going to score much.

Doesn't sound like Ainge's kind of guy.
