The best rebuild trades I've seen so far

I've read most of the ideas you guys have shared.  So far these are the best I've seen.

#1 - Paul Pierce to Indiana for Paul George or a 1st round pick... preferably both (Amundson can be included from Indiana as cap filler since he expires).

Why?:  Gets Pierce off our books next year and we get a prospect out of it.  Pierce makes 16.7 mil next year... George makes 2.6 mil.  Frees up an additional 14 mil in cap space giving us something like 34-38 mil in cap space in the offseason.


#2a -  Ray to Chicago for Kyle Korver, CJ Watson and a 1st rounder (probably a late 1st rounder)

Why?:  Korver and Watson have unguaranteed contracts (Korver has only 500k guaranteed next year)... so they will not be on our books next year.  If we can get a 1st rounder for Ray we might as well.


#2b - Ray to Utah for their 10 mil trade exception (from trading Okur) and one of the following:  1st rounder (probably a late 1st rounder), Kanter, Favors or Hayward.  

Why?:  Get a young prospect or 1st rounder for giving Ray to Utah.


So far I haven't seen anything realistic/reasonable involving KG.  Best to just hang onto him to be a mentor, buy him out so he can join a contender or give him the opportunity to have an early retirement.   That's pretty much it.

i'd so the indiana deal in a second we'd probably have to throw in a pick but i think they value george more than they do granger at this point cuz of his contract

i hate the chicago deal for us becuase exactley how does that help us in the future? we get another late 1st rounder when were probably going to have 2 mid-late 1st's anyway

Chicago also owns the Bobcats 1st rounder (protected) that they could include instead:

"Bulls receive the Bobcats' 2012 first-round pick (top 14 protected in 2012, top 12 protected in 2013, top 10 protected in 2014, top 8 protected in 2015, unprotected in 2016) (Tyrus Thomas trade 02-18-10)"

Not happening. Most of these trade proposals are ludicrous, this one included. Indiana is already paying a small forward $12M.

It happens a lot when a team thinks it's close and wants to win now. In fact, some of our current players have been involved in similar type of deals before.

* A young promising JO traded from Portland to Indy for Antonio Davis.

* Ray Allen trade in which the C's gave up the #5 pick (Green) and Delonte West. At the time, Allen's ankles were a major issue and most thought he only had 1 or 2 years left.

* KG trade where we traded Big Al, amongst other young players. Let's not forget that the majority were against that trade for the very reasons you mentioned above.

I have no idea why players are labeled with these positions tags. In the NBA you basically have 3 positions- bigs, wings, and point guards. There are very few traditional  centers, so most teams have 4's playing that spot. As for Granger, do you think a Pierce/Granger tandem would not work? If so, why? Both can shoot the ball and create spacing. Granger can defend shooting guards. Plus, that tandem would present a lot of teams matchup problems with their size.
