Especially if the Knicks continue to struggle

I actually think this deal works out really well for both teams. Both the Celts and Knicks are clearly underacheiving right now (I think more so the Knicks than Celtics.) Both are looking up at the Sixers off all teams in the Atlantic Division. The Knicks need a point guard and may have made a mistake by trading away Billups. Between Rondo, Melo and Chandler, that's a more complete team then what they have now.

As for Amar'e, the Celts need size and a future PF after KG retires at the end of the year. The move helps both teams in the short and long term.

However, the Knicks struggles would have to continue for this to happen. No way they do this now. Definitely more of a mid-March time frame.

The Knicks win that trade pretty hard. I'm sure they'd make it. They further cut salary and get the better prospect in Rondo.

I'd maybe give them Rondo for Melo if we first dump Pierce for cap room and sign Deron and Dwight in the offseason.

In other words...

Nope on the Knicks trades.

Really? You think the Knicks would win if they make that trade? Wow, maybe I think Amar'e is better than he really is. I think he's definitely a franchise player who's just not succeeding in NY for whatever reason.

But back to my point, I agree with you. I think come early March if the Knicks are in the same boat they're in now, this move makes sense for both teams.

Celtics need size and the Knicks need a PG (sorry but does anyone really think Baron Davis is going to do anything?)

Plus, I think Amar'e could be exactly what KG needs for one more run. Those two would rock together!

I think he's a franchise player with huge injury concerns.

But, the more I think about it, if we traded Rondo straight up for Amare (which this basically is), and went hard after Deron Williams and made a smart move, this would work out really well for the C's.

I agree. Only reason why I added JO and Douglas is cause I dont' think Rondo for Amar'e works money-wise. But anyway, yes.
I think Stoudemire is arguably the best PF in the NBA (next to Griffin and Love.)
Also, it's looking less and less likely that Howard will ever end up in Boston (not that it was ever likely.)
It's time to look elsewhere.

Exactly! Only reason why I added Douglas and JO is cause Rondo for Amar'e doesn't match up, money-wise. But yes, I think Stoudemire in green would be awesome!

Amare still has that back injury that will never heal. Remember how effective he was in the playoff when we swept the Knicks last year? There's no doubt he's good when healthy but these injury concerns are just too much. Also, noone notices how drastically his numbers went down from last year??

How do the Knicks win that trade pretty hard.  That is just silly.

I would be very surprised if New York was willing to trade Amare for Rondo. Shocked even.
