After the Toronto game Pierce didn't want anything to do with trade rumor talks. Then last night he said that the C's gave him everything he ever wanted, and he called it a business.

First reaction is a I don't want to hear about trades, the second is Danny talking t him and were he may end up going and has excepted that he MAY be traded in the near future.

I think if this happens( I don't want it to but have excepted that this may happen) that DA will Do right by Pierce and get him to a contender. Clips my be the right choice, plays for his home town, and we don't hang DA for sending hm the the Fakers. I do think a third team has to get in on this to work, DA wont do it unless he gets some thing out of it that will help the future, not just a quick band aid.

I don't think that things can really happen till March 1st. So the team still has some time to do some thing to make DA want to ride this out, but so far not looking to good.

The way Pierce has been playing I don't even think we'd get good enough value for him.

He's still making a lot of money so we'd have to take a big contract back and possibly a bad one at that too.

In the end, only Paul Pierce can decide if he wants to leave and where he wants to go, Not Danny. Either way, it will not diminish what has done for our franchise.

Until I hear otherwise right from the Captains mouth,I am not believing he is going anywhere. If he does decide to go elsewhere and compete for a title one last time, than I hope he achieves his goals(as long as it is not for the Lakers)

Pierce saw Ainge demolish the 2003 team after they got slaughtered by the Nets.  He knows he's not going to keep a mediocre team together out of nostalgia for past success if there's an opportunity to improve their position going forward.

That we don't have the Vin Baker albatross hanging around our cap should give the big 3 a little more time than the old group.  Less need to move their contracts before they expire since we'll have cap space once they do.

This is the second time Ive seen you post something like this.  Does Pierce have some kind of no-trade clause that Im unaware of?

My perception was the same as yours. I felt that he knew he is going.

He seemed down and not just down from losing to the lowly Suns down, but fatalistcally down like he knew he was gone. Sad to see.

Pierce was also asked if he still wants to retire as a Celtic, and said along the lines of "Of course, i still feel that way. I mean, yeah." I'm sure PP was down cuz of the losing, and i don't blame him...but at the same time, he and Ray Allen are still optimistic....and so am I.

TP, thanks.  His anguish was apparent; it's too bad.  Who knows if it is because of the trade talks or the losing, but it is more than apparent its not a situation he's ok with.

I'm not so sure about that.  Pierce is unlikely to say, "No, I don't want to retire a Celtic", but he's been on plenty of rebuilding teams and he might not mind getting airlifted out to a contender for his final couple of years. 

It'd be hard to get up for rebuilding if you were going to be retired by the time the team might be good again.

He's dealing with it like a professional but I think you can see it in his eyes that it bothers him at least a little.

I don't think this "blow it up" and trade talk is helping this team any. It may even be having the reverse affect. Maybe its taking some of the fight out of them. Not that this isn't deserved because it is. But it's not like hearing we're sticking it out with you guys either. No right or wrong way to handle this from either side at this point.  

They just all know what's up.

I think one of the worst thing to be asked about after a bad loss is trade rumours.  

Furthermore, I believe that Pierce ever since the championship has seen himself retiring as a Celtic. It's probably not easy to change that perception.

Looked to me like a standard interview. I think you guys are reading way more into that interview than what is actually there.
