If the Jazz want to make a playoff push this year. (trade idea)

It's similar to Green 18 above, but I think better for us, even though it gives them Rondo instead of Ray.

"I think that we are good trading partners with Utah. Don't think that they give up any young bigs though (Favors and Kantner are pretty much untouchable.)They have thought about moving BigAl or Millsap and recently Deven Harris.

Boston gets: Big Al or Millsap, Deven Harris, Hayward and GS's 1st rounder and Utah's 1st rounder.

Utah gets:Paul Pierce and Rondo

Why for Jazz: Utah needs a point guard for now and the future and are in need of a veteran presence to be a contender for the next year or two. They have a lot of good young talent. They just need someone to distribute (RR) and someone to lead (RR and PP).

As wdleehi suggested in an earlier thread  http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=52590.0, if Utah wants to make a playoff push this year and next this should be real attractive to them.

They get to keep all their younguns except Hayward. With PP, they don't need Hayward right now. They also get a point guard of the future who is a great distributor, which Harris is not.

Why for Boston: Maintaining cap flexibility and getting 1st round draft picks.

We still have KG and Ray's and JO's contracts expiring at the end of this year. Harris and Big Al expire at the end of next year. This gives us many more options with our cap both this year and next.

The two first round picks speak for themselves. Utah's will be late 1st, but Warrior's pick could be lottery. We would then have 4 1st rounders this year AND Hayward. Talk about pieces for the future that we can either use ourselves or trade.

Does Utah do this? Do we?"

Both of you guys have trades revolving around the Celtics taking back Big Al or Paul Millisap... Frankly that doesn't make sense from Boston's perspective.  It just "stops the bleeding" by bringing in mediocre players to ensure we'll stay mediocre.  

Wdleehi's trade is about blowing up this team and preparing for the future with prospects, cap space and draft picks (while ensuring we suck enough short-term to land a top pick).  Which is why it makes a lot more sense from Boston's perspective.

If Deron WIlliams couldn't win a title with Millasap AND Big Al... Rondo isn't going to win a title with one of them.

If we trade Pierce and Rondo for the package I proposed that includes  Harris along with Al or Milsap and two 1sts and Hayward, we are getting a youngun (Hayward)  2 picks and 2 contracts that expire nextyear.

That will mean that big $$$ comes off two years in a row. in '12 Ray and KG and in '13 Harris and Jefferson.

got to admit this trade sets us up for a smooth, swift rebuild through FA and the draft, while keeping an exciting young product on the court.

also like the idea of trading Allen for Okur's 10 mil exception and a pick.

i'd consider it for the pick nj gave utah in the dw trade. no added salary so same cap room, no starting caliber 2 so we'd be lottery bound and a very high pick from nj!

With Milsap expiring next year, Miles this year and Burks on a very reasonable rookie deal, it fits our goal of keeping cap flexibility this year and next and gives us some good young assets. I do like it.

I would do this, but I prefer the above scenario that would land us two additional firsts and Hayward and Harris and AlJeff or Milsap for Pierce and Rondo.

Thanks. Miles is just filler. Banks is a better prospect than Hayward. And the Jazz are asking teams to take Harris right now -- he's lousy.

Keep Rondo -- he worth a lot more than a couple of picks on a team destined to lose alot because it features Al Jefferson.

The Jazz are currently the 5th seed.  Jefferson and Millsap are playing very good right now.  If they think they can make a good run this season, maybe they would be interested in this trade.

and a conditional 1st.  (It turns to a 2nd if the Jazz do not get out of the first round of the playoffs)




For the Jazz, they get two players that know how to win.  Two players that step in and become leaders to this team.  Once Pierce gets healthy, the Jazz will have one of the scarier offensive starting lineups.  


For the Celtics, a real shot in the arm for rebuilding.  


It really depends on what the Jazz think of Jefferson, Millsap and Kanter.  


But yes, I do think this trade is a longshot.
