Would you move him to the Lakers for Pau?

OF COURSE!!!!

Anyone who wouldn't do this, obviously didn't live through the final years of the original Big Three with Larry Bird laying on the floor during time-outs and Kevin McHale taking threes all game.  Robert Parish played on a couple different teams after his Celtic career ended and nobody regrets that.  We were happy for him that he got a chance to go out and get a ring.

With that said, this trade ain't happening.  The Lakers would not trade Pau Gasol for Pierce because they would not be improving.  If they were to get Pierce, there would have to be a third team involved.

ehh...  i dont think the lakers are stupid. If they want to trade for Pierce than they WILL ask for Rajon Rondo in that deal...   we are not just gonna get Pau.  most likely it will be Pau + filler + pics for both Rondo and Pierce.

ultimately... they will end up like this if we do any trade with them

Kobe
Rondo
bynum
pierce
TPE for pf  josh mcrob coming off bench...

screw LA let them die as well No PG = No titles.  at least we have Rajon

it would be the worst trade of the decade. pau is not worth the trade, the lakers do not have any assets to trade unless your  talking about bynum in which I really dont wanna make that trade if u think long and hard about it. celtics have a really good team, i would ride it out and probably do an under the radar trade at the deadline. we are fine with what we have, we just need a center!!!!!

no freaking way you trade this teams franchise player to the lakers unless you A. get andrew bynum or B. get a 3rd team involved (the magic) that gets dwight howard here. In other words, no if you're going to trade pierce, don't make it so i need to see him in an awful fakers uniform...
If Paul Pierce is a franchise player the Celtics are in huge trouble.  Paul Pierce was the franchise player, now he is an average starting SF at best.  I know everyone loves Pierce on here, as I do, but he is well past his prime and has a huge contract.

I really can't foresee a scenario, short of somehow getting Howard, where Pierce is traded to the Lakers and Danny is not run out of town by season's end.  Might even still happen with Howard involved.

Even if the deal made basketball sense there'd be a fan revolt the likes of which we've never seen.  Lots of season ticket non-renewals, etc.

I'm not so sure about that. We're the fan base, and if you judge by everyone's reactions, it seems pretty divided. If rumors circulate slowly, it will be less of a shock than the backlash received with the Perk/Green deal.

LOL...you seriously think that if Danny Ainge trades Paul Pierce...to the Los Angeles Lakers of all teams in the league, the majority of the Boston Celtics fanbase will continue on bleeding green, sipping green kool-aid, and sporting their green goggles as if nothing happened?

AND you think it won't be as bad as what happened with Perk?? You can't be serious.

Judging by the comments here, yes I do. I also think that if Green had come in and played at a high level then the criticism wouldn't have occurred. People loved Perk more for what Green did NOT bring, then for the production Perk had on the court.

At the end of the day, it's about the Celtics, and not about an individual player. If Danny is able to pull a rabbit out of a hat and land Bynum and filler, for say Pierce and JO then I don't think Celtics faithful will screaming bloody murder. Especially if Bynum, who is only 24, gives us 10 years of all-star level play and becomes a cornerstone of the franchise.

Again, that is only my opinion, but if you had a vote of  C's fans and they had to choose between Bynum and the sentiment of Pierce retiring as a C, I think the vote will be much closer than you might think.

Wow.  I would NEVER trade Pierce to the Lakers! >:(

If they win another championship, Ainge would be responsible.

I might not be a Celtic fan if that happened.  Not because Pierce was traded, but because it was to the Lakers.

The Lakers aren't giving up Gasol for Pierce.  It will never happen.  No chance.  Now if it was Pierce and Scola for Gasol, I could certainly see them making that trade.

I really think the Lakers are thinking a salary dump type trade.  Something like Pierce for Blake, Walton, Barnes, Ebanks, Dallas 1st.  In a separate trade I then move JO to them for the Odom trade exception since players would have to be cut anyway.

Saves the C's money short and long term, gets a first and a look at Ebanks, and get a decent sized trade exception.

Unless Bynum is on the table, this conversation is a non-starter. And there's no way that Bynum is on the table. So yeah...

With that in mind, do all the parties do this trade:

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7g6flb8

Fakers get: Pierce and Scola
Rockets get: Gasol and Bradley
Cs get: Kevin Martin, Thabeet, TWill and Ebanks.

Our lineup looks like this:

RR/DoolingMoore
RA/KMartin/Marquis
Pietrus/TWill/Ebanks
KG/Bass/JJJ
JO/Stiemsma/Thabeet

Dump Sasha

This keeps us competitive now with Martin and some possible pieces for the future in TWill, Ebanks and Thabeet. If two of those three younguns pan out, we should be happy,,especially with our two 1st rounders this year.

If there was a proposed trade that involved Pierce to LA, Gasol to Minnesota, and Kevin Love (with extension) to Boston, plus the Celtics coughing up one or more first round picks in there and maybe some shuffling around of minor players, with a second trade centering around Bynum to Orlando for Dwight Howard contingent on the three-way trade going through, is there enough meat there for you to want Ainge to explore the possibility or would you want him to reject the idea immediately because it involves trading Pierce and/or helps the Lakers?

The Fakers getting BOTH Pierce and Howard would be too terrible a pill to swallow for all the Loves in the world.

Pierce in a LA LAKER uniform :o    OMG

For a die hard Celtic fan like me.... that would be like the Pope suddenly becomming anti- Catholic

Trade him yes ...but NEVER NEVER to LA.....not direct

I mean,..............there has to be a "statue" on the Boston City Law books that forbids this type of reckless action.

Trade everything for Love..... but not to LA to get him ...NO WAY

I'm down for Pierce for Bynum straight up, maybe a pick. We can't lose Rondo on a gamble for D. Will though.
