I don't love the idea of trading pierce but I understand that it may have to happen for this team to rebuild.

Second

Im not sure how the blazers would feel about this trade. I really don't follow there team.

Boston Sends
   Paul Pierce
   J O'neal
   1st round pick

Portland Sends
   Nicolas Batum
   Wesley Matthews
   Marcus Camby

The Cs pick up two young wings who should fit very nicely with Rondo.

I don't think Portland would do it, but that is an enticing idea.

pierce is still our best player... trading him AND a 1st rounder seems silly

I love the idea, but the Celtics would have to give up more than that and Pierce and Wallace both play the small forward position.

I actually thought the same thing, the Cs may have to include both 1sts this year or 1 this years and one next year or see if the blazers view avery as an asset.

I think Pierce and Wallace could play together against some teams with Aldridge at C Wallace at pf. with Jamal croaford on the team they could even keep pierce fresh and use him as a 6th man for stretches of the season.

Not happening, Pierce should retire a Celtic because he deserves it.

He deserves it?  So when the Celtics are winning 20 games a year for the next 5 years, it'll be cool with you as long as Paul Pierce plays his entire career on the Celtics because he deserves it?

Where I come from, success on the court outweighs sentiment.

I want a genuine star talent in return for Pierce. Not a pair of average starters (Batum, Wes).

I would think that it would be Portland giving us the 1st rounder not the other way around, given the quality of talent changing hands.

Matthews is a pretty good starting SG and Batum has lots of potential but Matthews will only ever be a pretty good starting SG and Batum has had loads of potential for like 5 years. Most times after that length of time, potential is never realized.

When Pierce's foot gets better and he is back in playing shape, he's a game changing player. Picks have to be coming our way.

By the same token, I don't see the C's trading Pierce.

Agreed.  And really I doubt the C's would deal him for anything less.  Batum and Mathews are good players but they aren't building blocks and aren't going to make us contenders.  In that case the team will value Pierce more.  The only possibility is if Pierce asks to be moved to a contender.  I think that is the only scenario where the team would actively look to move him.  Remember now the article says other teams have inquired, and not that the C's are shopping him.

Totally agree. Batum and Mathews could really help a team, but they aren't going to be the stars that it takes to win a title. This trade would really get the Celtics nowhere.

Pierce's value should be higher, IMO. I also do NOT want to see the Truth in another uniform in his career, but I don't think it would be fair to keep a superstar like him on a team that can't win for the rest of his career. Tough spot for Danny Ainge.
