Me!   ;)

Heheh.

Seriously, though, this team said the same kind of things in 2010 when they were giving a crap effort on a nightly basis and the fans started to get restless and frustrated.

I am with them, but they are not going to win a championship - not even close.  One believing this team cannot win the championship does not make one a fair weather fan.

Agree 100%.  Being realistic doesn't make you any less of a fan.

Look around the league at the best teams.  They have athletes the Celtics don't have.  Age happens to everyone.  Our starters with the exception of Rondo are not quick enough to play the defense that has been a staple f this teams success.  We don't rebound well because our BIGS are old and cannot keep up with the better athletes on other teams.  We have relied almost completely on jump shots in recent years, jump shots that fall less and less as your legs age and tire.

This is a natural progression.  We just got old.  It's no ones fault and those of us who are realistic about this aren't any less of a fan then those clinging to blind optimism

I agree that natural progression of age figures in with the team, but how does this explain MIA's latest woes? They have perhaps the BEST athletes/team out there, but Wade just sprained his ankle pretty bad and Mighty MIA are in the midst of a Three-Game losing streak...

Because they're LeBron's team.  LeBron James, the athlete that is the hardest to figure out in the world today.  His physical ability says he should be Larry Bird and Michael Jordan combined but he shrinks on the biggest stages and in the biggest moments.  He doesn't seem to have the drive to better himself that others at his level have had.

This is a bit tongue in cheek but you've got to admit LBJ is one hard dude to explain.

Also beyond LBJ, Wade and Christina Bosh they just don't impress me much.

Lol, I already sat through plenty of losing season when I was a kid. The Celtics winning in '08 was a great graduation present, but I honestly want them to start rebuilding....now

In general, the people who aren't with them aren't posting here.  It is possible to be very much for the team--but think that it's time to be rebuilding, developing the young players, etc..

That this comes from KG really makes me sick. The KG I remember would have jumped at a ball that was off him and slowly trickling out of bounds last night. Instead, he just kind of watched it roll out of bounds.

Maybe KG should look at the efforts being given by this team right now before he starts throwing his fan base under the bus.

Where's the boxing out? Where's the help defense? Where's the running up the court on the fast break? Where's the defensive tenacity and offensive cohesion? Where's the effort?

How about you answer those questions KG before questioning the hearts and minds of the people who shell out huge bucks to go to the Garden after a work stoppage in the NBA which demonstrated that neither the owners nor players gave a rat's ass about the fans. Well, those fans are still banging out the Garden 18000+ strong, KG. Where have you been?

Well said Nick TP!

At times during that game I hoped some boos were getting the point across. We;re not philly or NYC or LA where we boo because they are losing, they're booing because they are not playing celtics basketball. the first 1/2-2/3 game were horrific to watch. Where were the rebounds and defense? NM the offense.

This is a die hard fan base. We are behind them all the way, but at what point does love and support stop and a firm kick to the butt is needed. I won;t stop watching games because we started a shortened season in dismal fashion, but something needs to be done here. (sorry no crazy trade ideas from me)
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

It may be the green koolaid that I drink on a daily basis, but I think they are going to turn it around any day now.  I think they have the talent.  They aren't THAT old and they have a very good bench.  It's only a matter of learning their roles and putting it together.

I am with them.  I have no problem with constructive criticism, but the lack of a belief in their ability to turn around baffles me, quite honestly.  People act like they didn't have a stretch where they went 4-6 in 2010, when they came within a freak injury and a few cheap possessions of winning a championship.

KG, Pierce and Ray Allen have done nothing but given their all since the minute they became Celtics.  I hate to be the bearer of bad news people, but look down the road a few years; what players do you see out there who could possibly replace these guys?  Even if we bring in talented, high-character players, chances are they won't win us a championship.  Why not put our faith in the guys we have here, who have done it before?  I know I will...

Honestly, I don't care about Miami or any other team. However, what do you think is going to happen when the Celts play the three teams that Miami just lost to? I don't think it is going to be a pretty picture.

Thanks, lazy puns like that are half the reason I picked this screen name.

I'll always support the team but I don't expect much out of them this season.  That ship sailed when Green went out.  But, I don't think they're as bad as they've played, especially Pierce and to a lesser extent KG.  They're very unlikely to win a ring but I think we'll see some good things out of them yet.

The important thing to remember is that none of us have any control over what happens on the court or in the front office.  And this is supposed to be entertainment anyway.  So why not be optimistic?   :)

see, I really don't understand why that's a foregone conclusion.  Miami is an injury to DWade away from being basically a replica of the Cavs team that the C's manhandled in the postseason 2 years ago.  I still think their one-on-one style of play is a significant shortcoming that can be exposed by the right team.  Chicago, OKC, the Lakers are really the only other teams that I see as true challenges and they all have flaws as well.

People have such short memories.  I said it before and I'll say it again.  Last year, for most of the season, the C's looked like the most dominant team in the NBA.  They were favorites to go back to the championship.  The Perk trade derailed them and yes, age/injuries probably had a lot to do with it.  But barring injury I see no reason to think this team should be defined by the uneven play of the past 50 or so games rather than the 50-60 games before that (really stretching back to the 2010 playoffs).

absolutely.  a lot of people here are all about what's the best for the Celtics, and to them that means swallowing sentimentality for the players we've come to love over the past few years, accepting reality, and moving on.

I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that they won't win a ring this year, though a lot of people here would probably disagree with me.

I think a LOT would have to break our way for it to happen.  Much of it stuff the team can't control.  That's why I say it's very unlikely.  But I think we're a lot better than what we've shown so far at least.
