As beneficial I think KG is to our starting lineup I think he can produce much more coming off the bench and playing in a second unit with Bradley, Dooling, Pietrus, and Bass and have JO come in for minutes as well

There's 5 bigmen sharing 96 minutes. I honestly think each should get about 20 minutes of burn a game because of health issues

I don't care about KG being a veteran, look at Dallas, their entire bench is filled with veterans

Our starters have enough offense with Ray, Paul, and Rondo

Our bench would need some umph. Bass provides it, Pietrus hopefully can as well, and Garnett can help that way defenses would have to work a bit harder

KG is playing a lot with the bench already.  I think the 5-5-5 rotation Doc has been using with him has worked well.  He helps them start the game on the right foot, and then helps the second unit, and helps them finish off the half.

The problem is, they need him to be much more aggressive when he is out there with the second unit.  They need to run the offense through him more often, and he needs to demand the ball.  I think he is just disappearing at the moment, and that is not OK.  He can take a bit of a backseat when he is out there with Pierce and Allen, but not with the second unit guys.

I definitely like the idea of having Wilcox start, i think having Rondo in there with him will improve his chances of contributing on offense.  KG can be much less dependent on Rondo to get his shot...even though we haven't seen much of it this year.  Wilcox needs someone who can set him up, and no one in the second unit really has that ability.

Having Rondo in there at the same time, improves everyone's chances of contributing on offense.

Hopefully Wilcox can get into shape & rhythm pretty soon here.  Along with Daniels, he's the Celtic who has under-performed the most relative to age and past precedent.  He's getting a pathetic # of shots up at the rim.  A lot of that is the fault of the guards he's spent a big chunk of his playing time with (Dooling & Bradley).

It would be nice to see him get a prolonged stretch of playing time with Rondo and/or Pierce, as well as a few post opportunities when he's playing with the bench guards.  A pointless pick-up if we're not going to use him offensively.

I say bench Rondo and start Wilcox at the point instead.

Maybe then the Celtics will be better on the boards.

This. Since KG is always deferring to Ray, Paul and Rondo, maybe he'd find it easier to be aggressive with the second unit, along with JO. And I'm sure that playing with Rondo would create a lot more opportunities for Wilcox and Steamah.

That's absolutely right--Wilcox should not be playing at all. He looked okay pre-season for some aggressive rebounding.  Since then he has not shown that he knows the defensive schemes or the offense.  Stiemsma seems the smarter ball player and better defender.  What Stiemsma lacks in offensive skill he makes up for in contributing to strong ball movement when he is on the floor.  And his shot blocking is such an asset.

This is the "let's-let-the-opponents-get-a-huge-lead-so-that-we-can't-come-back-and-win-any-games-so-that-we-can-get-a-much-higher-draft-pick" plan, right?

I think that's called tanking.

I would like to cut KG's overall court time minutes and get more productivity out of Pietrus, Wilcox, Stiesma, Jermaine O'Neal, and Brandon Bass (already satisfied with).
