The kid can create his own shot in the NBA. Not a lot of guys can do that. It was a mistake not to draft him, am sure Danny wishes he had a do over.

Why do people keep saying "its cause Brooks plays for the Nets!"?
Mostly because up to now all he's shown is the capability to be a volume shooter.
He's been pretty efficient so far but I get your point.
He's putting up 14 points on 11 shots in ~23 minutes of action up to this point, FWIW. The problem is that he's got something like 5 assists in 8 games which may be ok for someone like Brandon Bass, but is pretty bad for a guard.

Not really, his role is to score. So unless he forces shots against double and triple teams his low assists is not that bad as long as he's scoring efficiently (46% is pretty okay). He gets fed the ball to score, not to create for others.

We missed out on this kid, bad.

Pierce's job is just to score too and he has 15 more assists in 3 less games.

I like Brooks too, but I'm not gonna make any assumptions until I've seen a lot more of Jajuan.

That's really really great. But scorers need not to average 4-5 assists a game. Like I said, as long as he does not force it on double or triple teams and scoring pretty efficiently, which he does, i can live with the low assists count.

I hear you. Seems to pretty efficient. Whether he can make his team better in more than one category is yet to be seen though.

Very good scorer regardless, definitely wouldn't have minded keeping him. I was content with the pick at the time.

Brooks played both Forward and Guard and Providence College.
He was listed as both.
Obviously, he can play both SF or SG.

Every year there is a kid in the second round who slips by.  OBviously, Danny isn't the only one wishing he would have taken dude

At 6'5" he's perfect for the NBA SG slot.

Playing SF in college does not make you a SF in the NBA anymore than playing C in college makes you an NBA center. Derrick Williams played a lot of center in Az, Landry Fields was a PF at Stanford.

Guys who are 6'5 can play SF, but they have to be able to defend the SF spot, and score on taller, longer players. I highly doubt Brooks can defend 3's.

Why can't he defend 3s?  I dont think he should have any real reason to, since his natural position appears to be SG and he's having success playing the 2, but whats stopping him from guarding 3s?

People on this site say Bradley can guard 2s all day because of his athleticism, long arms, and speed...Brooks has all of those things and another 4 inches. If Bradley can guard 2 guards (I personally dont think he really can), then Brooks should be able to guard SFs.

Im afraid we're going to look back on dealing Brooks with big time regret.  Its not just missing out on a player who ends up being a 2nd round surprise.  He fell down to us, and we had him.  To lose him after that will hurt.

Every game he plays, he's chipping away at the critics.  First, he could only score against bad teams...then he couldn't play d...then he couldn't rebound.  Now he can't pass.  What are we going to say once he gets his 1st triple double?  The fact is, he's a baller.  For a 1st year player, his skills look great.  Ricky Rubio is the only other rookie looking nearly as polished, and he's been a pro since he was 13.

I don't think he can defend 3's because he lacks the height and strength, and he's not a savvy enough player to make up for that yet.

How did every other team in the league miss out on Stiemsma?

Hat tip dinguspie:
Stiemsma has been the 2nd most productive rookie in the NBA, according to WP48.  Also lighting it up: MIL's Jon Leurer and MIN's Rubio.

Let's give the Steamer 25 or 30 minutes a game and let O'Neal ride the pine!

Jeff?  Roy?  Some moderator out there?  This is a great little piece about Stiemer that could lead to a nice discussion on the front page.

As to Brooks and Bradley, Brooks measured out all of 2 1/4" taller than Bradley--6'4.25" vs. 6'2".

It is possible that Brooks could turn into something special. It is possible that he could be another Darren Daye (played for the Celtics in the early 90s) who was outstanding for about 1/2 a season and then he faded away quickly. Who knows?

But thanks for the Fantasy Sleeper tip.
