Rondo is driving you nuts? What about KG? He has shown up for 1 game this season, he's not rebounding, scoring, late on his defensive rotations, doesn't block any shots,  and has basically been a no show for the celts this year. I know Rondo is frustrating at times, but Rondo is going to be the reason we stick around in most games this year.

Yes, but this is supposed to be rondos team now. I have come to accept that at 35, kgs contributions can't be what they used to. Rondo needs to be the man now especially in the 4th.

I don't disagree that we need to see more out of Rondo in the 4th, but truth be told he can only do so much. Bottom line is we need more production out of the frontcourt and some players to run with Rondo to grab some offensive rebounds on those one man fast breaks

Rondo was not a problem tonight and I will tell you why. Because Rondo is what he is and what he is is a 3rd or 4th option on offense, pass first, no outside shot making point guard.

He's not going to be you #1 scoring option.
He's not going to carry your team offensively.
He's not going to have plays designed for him to hit a three pointer or outside shot.

He doesn't have any of that in him.

When he does "bring it" offensively, he is one of the most dangerous players in the game. But he doesn't have it in him to do it every game. He just doesn't have the complete scoring game in him because of his lack of a shot. Because of that when he has nights like this. its not his fault they lose because this is really what he is.

The team lost tonight. The team lost because of lack of ball movement, lack of outside shooting, and lack of rebounding. The Celtics did not lose because of their defense. They lost because the offense didn't run their stuff, didn't move the ball and didn't make the shots.

Pierce, KG, Dooling and Bass were not good tonight offensively Rondo wasn't either. But you can't really blame just one of them. They were all equally bad.

I gave them all (except Dools) a D-... their offense was terrible! Yea our Defense was really good most of the night. Defense usually puts an extra bounce in our O game... tonight, offense (lack of) made me cry!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I'm with you to a large extent, but I don't buy that Rondo is incapable of being a factor on the offensive end in the last 4 to 5 minutes of the game, yet that's what we've seen in so many games.  That's a mental thing, it's not a strict limitation in his game.

  • You say when......
I say you are blaming the HORSE..when he is stuck in the BARN...He is the only one moving out there...no one to pass to...He has to shoot when it isn't his plan, he wants to PASS...because that is what a PG is supposed to DO, but no one can get open because they are tired or just don't move anymore. Ever see kg try to post up and WANT the ball....any centers wanting an alley oop for a dunk..anyone running with him or leading a fast break besides rondo..anyone hitting shots or driving to the hole BESIDES RONDO.......how can you blame rondo....?HE rebounds more than anyone AGAIN..he drives when no one else will even try to penetrate...where is the guy who FOLLOWS his layup..looking for the rebound.....don't like doing that becasue doc said it is dumb..WELL, indiana liked it plenty enough..and look what it produced..constant ponts even when their shooting wasn't on......You guys here KEEP blaming Rondo, get your eyes out of the microscope and look at the team, and the coaching. You sound like you want allen iverson, because the rest of our team isn't dong anything. Rondo is a pure point guard, and he knows it, he is supposed to pass drive, set up, and lastly shoot..when the team doesn't move, it will not work.

we need dwight or mcgee they would run with rondo and grab boards. what i dont get is if we arnt grabbing any rebounds why do we insist on shooting jumpers and not getting to the rim

I think stiemsma should start because if teams are running plays now away from him we need to exploit that. plus he brings alot of energy. he had a block on granger that was called a foul that killed our momentum along with some other calls.

It's a team sport and there is a lot of blame to go around for this loss.

Pierce 3-17 FG
O'Neal 1-3  FG
Bass   2-7  FG
Rondo  5-12 FG

Garnett had 1 rebound., Pierce had 5 TOs.  We shot .39% from the field goal shots.  We got out rebounded by 11.  The Pacers shot .57% from the three point land and our perimeter D was abyssmal.  To their credit, Bradley shot well, Ray shot well and Dooling shot well.  Ray was fantastic.  There should be no days off during this break the team doesn't deserve them.

I don't know if it was age,  we were tired, lack of athletic ability or a lucky night for the Pacers.  The apathetic lack on our part was appalling.

It was not just Rondo folks...

No, it was not just Rondo, but only Rondo is supposed to be the franchise's starting PG and team centerpiece for the next 10 years.

Rondo has been great. We're 4-4 because Rondo is keeping us in these games.

The Pacer game was Rondo's worst, but it was for almost everybody else on the team too...our team lost because we allowed 14 offensive rebounds...also we missed ~10 wide open shots.

KG and Marquis have been the biggest problems for the Celtics. We need some offense from them if we are gonna win games. We are sorely lacking the inside game both of them usually supply.

Rondo is not the problem. If he is then it's one of those Lebron James type problems but I don't hear people saying the Heat should trade him for Granger or Iguodala.

Rondo's shooting is not a big issue (his FTs are though). He creates quality shots for the team and scores consistently and efficiently.

His problem in the 4th quarter is that he's expected to do too much. He's expected to be a distributor AND scorer. There are only two 4 guys in the league who do that: DWill, CP3, Nash, and Rose (and those last two aren't significantly better than Rondo at it).

If we were to replace Rondo with a 2nd tier PG our offense would look closer to how it looks when Rondo's out of the game than the fantasies people have in their heads.

We lost tonight because of poor rebounding and poor shooting (mainly from people other than Rondo).

late in fourth quarters, though, Rondo doesn't pass or score.  he disappears.  he defers to Pierce / Ray / KG and hangs off to the side.  even when Rondo has dominated earlier, in a close game Rondo always seems to disappear late in the 4th.

I think he led the league in clutch time assist/48 last year. He doesn't scoremuch but he doesn't disappear at the level you claim.

56 percent from the line is inexcusable and a liability
so he misses 2-3 more shots than the average free throw shooter... boo hoo

free throws are overrated

Free throws are overrated? I don't know where to begin.  The guy is 1-7 in the last two games, and sinc going 7-8 in game 1, he is 16-33' which is atrocious. There has never been an "elite" point guard who shot this poorly from the line. Never.

There is one now, like it or not.

so in the past few years when it "wasnt yet rondos team to carry" how come he still got the blame and their were still threads such as these?
get over yourself... the whole team was dreadful capped off by a pathetic 3-17 performance from Pierce...the guy credited with the past 4 wins after he came back from injury...and now he doesnt get blame..
its rondo rondo rondo
sick of this fanbase
