Tonights pacers game was just horrible offensively and I am disappointed with pierce for having a bad game, but At this point we all should agree that this is not the big 3's team to carry any more...it's rondo's. However I just can't help but wonder if he is good enough.  I love the guy, but I am starting to believe that he is as good as he is from a numbers standpoint because of the attention the big 3 gets.

Rondo just makes so many maadingly frustrating plays that it negates all the good he does over the course of a game.  He continually take crazy layups on the break to avoid being fouled but what's worse is that the shots are so contorted that they rarely go in.  We were making a run at the end of the third quarter and he pulled the ball up on a fast break and dribbled out the clock and then gave it to kg at the absolute last second rather take it in a and get fouled on the break.  The game to game inconsistency another issue and then within each game he completely changes his aggressiveness like in the 4th.

Assist wise, rondo is a top 3 pg in the league, but his lack of shooting effects everything we do offensively.  As the big three ages or retires, won't these deficiencies be even more obvious?

Rather than swinging for the fences, would danny be better served trading rondo for a solid shooting point guard who is not quite the disher that rondo is.  Someone like Darren collison, raymond felton, Lowry in Houston, even a Brandon jennings or tyreke Evans.  Couldn't we get those guys and then some (perhaps a hard working banger) for rondo?  Wouldn't any of those guy be soilid starting with the big three and open up our offense?

I think with the big three in their current state and even for the future, it may be time to sell high on rondo.

Am I just frustrated because of our start this season or do others feel this way.  I do love rondo though and it kills me to think this way.

the way that Rondo disappears late in games, regardless of how well he played for the rest of the game, is maddening.

seemingly without fail, late in a close game Rondo slows down the pace to a crawl and disappears offensively.  he and KG seem to share the complete lack of desire to be "the man" carrying the team to victory offensively.  that's a huge problem if you want him to be your main man moving forward.

Think of the Rondo you saw during the 2006-07 season to get a sample of what life will be like with Rondo running the ship in the post big three era. The days when gun-toting Telfair was battling it out with Rondo over the starter position.

rndo is better than tyreke evans. 1 poor shooting game where pierce shot 1-10 does not make rondo a bad player

You think Rondo is going to revert back into playing like he did in his rookie year? A bit dramatic, no?

Rondo is not the problem. If he is then it's one of those Lebron James type problems but I don't hear people saying the Heat should trade him for Granger or Iguodala.

Rondo's shooting is not a big issue (his FTs are though). He creates quality shots for the team and scores consistently and efficiently.

His problem in the 4th quarter is that he's expected to do too much. He's expected to be a distributor AND scorer. There are only two 4 guys in the league who do that: DWill, CP3, Nash, and Rose (and those last two aren't significantly better than Rondo at it).

If we were to replace Rondo with a 2nd tier PG our offense would look closer to how it looks when Rondo's out of the game than the fantasies people have in their heads.

We lost tonight because of poor rebounding and poor shooting (mainly from people other than Rondo).

late in fourth quarters, though, Rondo doesn't pass or score.  he disappears.  he defers to Pierce / Ray / KG and hangs off to the side.  even when Rondo has dominated earlier, in a close game Rondo always seems to disappear late in the 4th.

Are you kidding me? Is Rondo's fault. Everything is his fault.. when we lose. He disappears in the 4th, never mind that Pierce had a bad game, there was no rebounding. Its Rajon fault... It always is

I agree that rondo is better than all the guys I listed, but we have been having these same stagnant offense issues ever since rondo became more crucial to our success last season and this.

My point is we probably are not going to a get a cp3 or dwill type for rondo. Probably not even a steph curry or Eric gordan type. Should Danny get as many other pieces as he can before the big three is gone and rondos flaws are really exposed.  I think any of those guards I listed above could thrive with the big three, no? And honestly, we should be able to get another piece or two in addition to a pg if we don't trade for top 5 pg.

I probably am over reacting to a bad loss but I've felt this way about rondo for more than just this season.

Rondo is what he is. But he's not the reason we lost. Pierce going for 3 of 17 and us getting destroyed on the boards is why we lost.

He doesn't take the ball hard to the basket in the 4th quarter because he is an awful free throw shooter, and if he does he takes an off balance layup because he is trying to get past the contact and make the hoop without being hit. This is a fatal flaw in his game , much more so than his 15-18 ft jumper and is partially why the c's lost game 7 in the 2010 nba finals. Kobe would just back off him and dare him to shoot . Rondo had like 5 - 10 feet of running room to take it at kobe and try to get a foul with his speed, but wouldn't do it.

I just watched Nash cross a guy up and bury a step back mid-range jumper.

I want that.

I'm assuming you don't want his defense, rebounding, or bad back though.
