You got anymore edits for me there Faf or you about done? ;)

I cannot believe Dirk ended up with a better TS%. I looked at his basic FG% (better), his 3pt% (better), and his free-throw percentage (better), and he got to the line more often!

I guess because Pierce shot more 3's?

The rebounding thing I don't mind debating a bit. I don't think "dirk actively hurt his team's rebounding" is really an accurate depiction of his rebounding.
Yup, Dirk only got to the line .5 times more per game and Pierce shot 1 more three per game. That shot selection issue was enough to push Pierce ahead of Dirk in eFG% and TS%.

And actively hurting his team is an accurate description of Dirk's rebounding. He pulled in boards at the same rate as Glen Davis has for his career at a 12 rebound rate.

Yeah, Dirk is not a great rebounder.  Part of that is because he spends so much of his time away from the basket, but Kevin Love is proof that it's possible to have an outside offensive game as a big man and still pull in a lot of boards, so that's not an adequate excuse for Dirk.
Or Glen Davis for that matter, you gotta board when you play that much PF/C!

Dirk makes up for it though unlike BBD....

I agree that dirk is probably better than Pierce its not a ridiculous comparison though. They've been compared their whole careers. Pierce probably passed dirk in 08 then dirk remained an alpha dog on hours team maintaining his career numbers and producing a title at which point he passes Pierce.

Its always going to be hard to completely compare them as their teams were built differently and Dallas completely runs their offense through Dirk. If we ran our offense through Pierce more  im sure his stats would more closely resemble Dirk but maybe at the cost of Ws.

Dirk isn't the worst pf defender of all time but my god does he save his energy when playing defense haha.

Wow.this comvo certainly got off topic

I never said Dirk was Larry Bird.  That's a pretty lame straw-man.

2010-2011 Paul Pierce could not have carried a team through four straight playoff series, scoring all of the key buckets down the stretch in the fourth quarter.

Dirk did that last summer.

Now, if you want to argue whether or not Pierce was better in the spring / summer of '08, then we can have that discussion, but I just don't see how there can be any question of whether Dirk is the better player right now.

Are you expecting Dirk to carry a team through four straight playoff series, scoring all of the key buckets down the stretch in the fourth quarter this season? If not, you'd have to consider that this is the only time Dirk's done this in 13 or so seasons and chalk it up to a great scorer getting hot at the right time.

I would do the trade of Rondo for D Will. It's the same premise as the CP3 trade. Any team with Deron Williams on it will be attractive to Dwight Howard.

I was Wondering if this its true. Does howard want to go to nj because of williams? Of so trading for williams makes more sense. Otherwise he just runs me the wrong way the last year and this year .

I really don't consider Deron as an upgrade on PG, and he'll definitely get a bigger contract than Rondo. Rondo is being underrated everywhere, including this CelticsBlog forum.

Rondo is almost always discussed here as a top 3 PG.  The only way he's overrated on this blog, is if you think he's the best PG in the league.  I'm sure some people do, but I think thats tough to argue without bias.

I think Deron and Rondo are equal ballhandlers and rebounders. Rondo has better vision, defense, and an edge in passing. Deron is a better finisher and shooter.  On a team with KG and Ray allen, I dont think trading for Deron would make much difference in our level of play.  One a team without kg or Ray, I think it could be a substantial upgrade

Im sure Dwight would enjoy playing with Dwill, but I doubt thats his main draw to the Nets. More the location, celeb owner, and ability to be the 1st face of the franchise in BK.

They are both pretty good friends.  Apparently they talk a lot and they recently had dinner together around NJ.  So it would seem the relationship would certainly make it more likely.  I don't think Rondo has that at all with pretty much anyone.  But I'd rather have Rondo, I don't like the extent of all this buddy buddy stuff even if I get it with all the AAU and everything that goes on with these young players.

I love Dwight's dominance at the C posiiton and would love to have that presence on our team, but if Dwight wouldn't buy into our team nature, Doc as a coach, Celtics history, Rondo as his PG... eh.  I have had enough concern about the kid's character and passion over the years, especially with how he has played in the playoffs at points.   If he doesn't want a part of it, oh well.  I want Rondo as our PG of the future and we will find other players that buy in I hope.

It's true that whether Rondo's a top 3 (or top 5) pg is discussed here but those are discussions, there are people who think he's a top pg and people who think he's a second tier pg who's dependent on the players around him for his success and that he hurts the team on the offensive end.

Wow I don't believe what im reading
Pierce > Dirk
Let Dirk guard a player like Lebron one on one the way Pierce does, them that'll be saying something
I love Dirk, one of my fav players, but his defense is not on Pierce's level. Also Pierce is a jack of all trades with his variety of offensive skills, plus he is more of a leader

I agree with Kane3387 that PRESENTLY, Dirk is better than Pierce because he is a little bit younger and more in his prime

Nets with just 1 win - he'd better be unhappy!

Not much he can do about it

Dallas has the ability to get Williams and Howard in the off-season.

I think he was dumb to go there in the first place. i could see Williams and Howard ending up with Dallas and finishing Nowitzkis career on a super high note for the next few years.

I don't understand how they do. They have Dirk, Marion, Baeubois, Jones, and Haywood on the books for next year. Even if they amnesty Haywood not sure they can get both when you factor in cap holds, draft picks, etc.

D will seems to break easy, he ssems to get reluctant to play hard and play though minor injuries .  Rondo does suck it up and play hurt when his team needs him .

Dwill shows the same pattern of poor effort , stinky attitude and sitting out every broken toenail injury,  That soon led to his dismise with Sloan and Utah.

Sorry.......his stock has dropped , there is more to being a leader than just being a good shot.   I was willing to go along with a CP3 /Rondo trade .  But, not this .

Look ......if we amatuer critics can see the issues with Dwill , then surely so can coachs, mgmt and HOPEFULLY DH.

I personally think Rondo makes a better fit for Howard.  After all ,his total NBA life and job is centered on serving the ball up to the Celtic Bigs.

Next to CP3 ...I don't see a guard out there that would compliment Howard more.
