  • Rondo = Good
Well, I think Bass's success is twofold: he can hit the perimeter shot and he can finish in traffic.  Baby couldn't do either consistently.  Shaq proved last year how many points someone can get when they're fifth fiddle playing with the Core Four after years of watching Perk and BBD botch open two foot jumpers because they couldn't dunk with anyone within 5 feet of them (or in Perk's case, without dribbling once first).

I really think a big part of Baby's trouble is that he's now not getting the easy looks he was getting in Boston.

It really shows just how much the Core Four can help whoever is the fifth player out there (see what happened when Greg Stiesmsa started).

It's worth pointing out that this reasoning is good justification for not necessarily investing in Bass long-term, either, despite how well he's playing now.

I agree.  I wouldn't heavily invest in Bass for the future.

I think it all depends on a) how we finish this year, and b) what the free agent market looks like next year.

If we finish reasonably well and/or win a title (second round to ECF minimum) and there is no great FA available, I could see Danny bringing Bass back for one more year and I'd overpay him to do so.

But if this thing is being blown up, I'd probably let Bass go UNLESS Danny can get him to such a reasonable deal that he'd be a valuable trade asset (more or less what he's making now for only 2-3 years).

But the worst thing we can do is sign role players before we have stars.  All that does is clog up salary that could go to stars.

We can always get role players like Bass later through the draft and/or future MLEs.

I bet Glen is wishing deep down inside he never left Boston. Oh well we have Bass now.

It shows you that some times the system makes the player. BBD was good player for the C's, people out side thought he was great, and they thought it was all him. Kg,PP,RA,RR made Baby who he was. And with his weight issues, and no KG to get on him, he may be out of the league in 5 years.

It also show how poor of a coach Vangundy is. He had Bass for how long? And didn't use him to take pressure off of Howard? Doc has him for a month and may have found out the best way to use this guy, were if he keeps it up could be the sixth man of the year.

I disagree with this.  I really do think that Big Baby has the potential to be a top 6th man of the year threat.  His problem in my opinion is psychological.

Up until the 2nd half flop he had last year he was improving yearly.  Each year he seemed to add a new dimension to his game, from his shooting to his defense to his ability to take a charge.

I know now it is easy to pick on him as being talentless and selfish, but I think he is just going through a funk.

Remember this is the guy that stepped in for KG and helped us go to the Conference Semis game 7 only 2 years ago.

I think this Bass-Big Blubber trade is a microcosm of the horribly managed Orlando Magic organization
This is the same team that chose to sit down Raefer Alston Jamear Nelson in the NBA Finals. Alston was the only point guard they had that actually got Dwight Howard involved, and helped the flow of the offense

Which is probably the reason Dwight would likely leave at the end of this season
Well thanks Magic for trading Bass to the Celtics! He's awesome
And I would never miss the 1 rebound games Big Blubber usually had on this team
