Out of curiosity, I looked up Grant Hill's salary and stats.  Still very solid....13.2ppg off of 48% and 39% in and outside the arc.  He's on a 1 year deal for $6.5M.

For a 2 or 3 yr deal, I would put Ray in the 6-7M/year range, with the 3rd year perhaps a team option.

He is clearing aging better than KG, and arguably our third best player.  I don't see how 3M or so would be fair, unless he has a poor year, or gets hurt.

I think you need to sign him to keep him away from other contenders.

If the Celtics are not a contender, then it doesn't matter if he goes to a contender and it is probably in the team's best interest for Ray Allen to go to a contender that is capped out and will cough up something useful for a sign-and-trade.  If the Celtics are a contender, then they should sign him because he is useful on a contender.

I would offer $8 million with a player option for a second year at $7 million.

id give ray 2 yrs with a 3rd team option, depending what danny's plan is.  if he decides to "blow it up", i probably wouldnt do it, but if he is trying to remain competitive, while adding pieces, i would do it

I probably would keep Ray anyway. Literally noone is a better role model for young players than Ray. The question is whether he would embrace that.
