Just for the record, our boy got the Doc treatment tonight. Very sad.
Wilcox needed minutes. Best move. Doc needs to see how Wilcox fits early on. Only by getting Wilcox comfortable do we know if he is going to be a second or third stringer.

Doc put in Stiemsma as the first man off the bench for O'Neal in the first half. He got a good 5-6 minutes run there and Wilcox only got in in the first half after O'Neal got into late first half foul trouble and Stiemsma had 2 PFs already.

Wilcox got the time in the second half.

I think Doc used the players this way to say that Stiemsma had earned the right to be the first center off the bench with his recent play but that he also wants to make sure Wilcox gets some minutes in.

I thought did a fabulous job handing out minutes tonight and really this whole year so far.

Doc is forced to limit minutes otherwise he'd still be bleeding the starters. He has a track record wearing these guys out. We'll see when we get into a stretch of top tier teams what happens.

Maybe he wasn't very good in college, and there's nothing wrong with that. He's 26 now and college was quite a while ago for him.

Wisconsin plays at the slowest pace in the NCAA (ranked 345/345).  I'm guessing a lot of the stats are lower then would be expected because of that.

If the Doc treatment is taking Stiemsma off the court because he's distinctly useless when matched with Okur at the three point line, then yes, the treatment was quit appropriate.

  • You say when......
I want wilcox to do good, but haven't seen him do anything, not with the ball, not without. Steamer, watch him all the while he is out there..when the ball is on offense for the C's, watch him move to the right spot, set picks for guys like ray to get free, then roll to the hole looking for a rebound position, stand in front of the defender while rondo is jockeying for a lane, look for the ball always, but stll move and help out....This is exactly what he should do. Oneil hardly does it, wilcox, no.....it is the role this team needs. Watch and see....if you haven't noticed...when you try to rebound on this team..you sit out...it is docs ( wrong minded ) philosephy that we don't need rebounds. so probably if a player tries it..he knows doc told the team " don't bother" ...the player is going against coaches wishes...even though they are anti-basketball fundamentals......that is why i never liked doc rivers....he may be able to sooth players egos ( aka = manager ) but doesn't really have basketball down. Like I said before, it might take ME 1/2 to think about going zone vs miami...why would it take him so long.....he has a decent assortment of players..but I don't see him using them to meet the problems the other team poses.....key- bill belechick adjustments at halftime......

About which part? Stiemsma looked particularly bad most of the time he was on the floor against Indiana.

Unfortunately Wilcox's poor play forced a change of plan in the 2nd half (not that Steamy did much better).  Wilcoz is making me long for Mikki Moore.  Hope he comes around.

once greg forget abut blocking shots for a minute and focus on rebounding a little more then he's starter material

and oh yeah danny was a real fool for spending 3 million on wilcox seeing how there was a bass Sign & trade so that 3 million could of been giving to a shooter SMH

On Doc's treatment of young players. I'm with Meadowlark, Stiemsma looked good. He had some horrible calls against him. As for Wilcox, he has done nothing this year that should allow him playing time over the rookie. The Seattle Supersonic Wilcox that was a double digit scorer is long gone my friends. This guy is washed up.

Looks good? He got tossed around like a rag doll by bigger players. He did get the short end of the stick on that block, but also committed a pretty dumb foul by trying a hockey-style hit on one of the Pacers. I'm not sure which what you liked about his play.

Exactly what I thought would happen did. Steamer is now a garbage time player. Very sad for Celtic fans. Danny found a diamond in the rough but Doc refuses to play him. A big man with big man skills. Too bad he is a rookie on a Doc River's team. I personally am sickened by Doc's rotations and his undying devotion to the Big Three.
