The whole trade scenario seemed to me to be an over reaction to the incident...The Kings, because Cousins is still on his rookie contract, could never get his worth back in trade.

They could get value by getting a bucketful of draft picks.

The Kings are under the salary cap by something like 26 million.  In other words, the Kings could easily get back value because they can take on about 30 million (with Cousins salary included with the cap space).  The reason the Kings won't get back equal value has nothing to do with cap space and almost entirely to do with their coaches stupid statement on the web-site.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

That press release was so unnecessary.

The Celtics would almost have to take a trade for a guy like Cousins if the chance presented itself.  What would the C's be giving up in terms of value?

The Kings would be advised to see if this can blow over first.  Too much talent, and no way anyone gives up substantial value at the moment, although they would have to act quickly if it spirals out of control.  Otherwise they risk losing all his value.

Maybe Bass, Steimsma, Johnson + picks would be enough?  Probably not.  Doubt the C's get him.

A few thoughts, as a University of Kentucky basketball fan, who had a love/hate relationship with DMC:

--Highly unlikely that the Kings trade him in the second year of his rookie contract

--If they do,we are not getting him.  We have nothing to trade.  Nobody wants JJJ/Bradley, and Bass isn't really a coveted piece on a young team.  Especially the Kings.  Maybe we can throw in some magic beans?

--He really could be a valuable piece/building block, and has ridiculous ability and upside...He could also be a complete bust and out of the league in 3 years.

--Doc/KG could be great for him...or Doc/KG could quickly destroy his already fragile mind and end his career.

I want to root for the kid, and he has limitless potential.  But he really is enigmatic.

Cousins from what i've seen in college and the pros has never been told what to do or been held accountable, and he acts like a big baby on the court when things don't go his way.  I can't stand him and hope we stay far far away from him.

I didn't read all 10 pages but another way to approach this is to take back a bad contract in addition to Cousins.  In this case I read that Cisco Garcia ($5.8M, $6.1M, TO $6.4M) is not playing and may be in the Westfall doghouse.

Celtics Get:
Garcia
Cousins

Sac Gets:
ONeil
Bradley
Clips Pick
Future 1r Pick

I actually don't like giving us our starting center but maybe this would be worth the risk.

If we get Garcia we could then send him to Utah who is under the cap for jeremy evans, they could use the TPE they got from Okur trade. Don't know if they love spending so much but next year they're going to be further under the cap and need contracts.

No, at least until JO sustains an injury, he is our very serviceable starting center.  I get you are being cynical and JO wouldn't have much value to Sac other than as an expiring but right now, he is an important part of our team.

I think very is stretching it.   Servicable is about right but very stretches it too far.

That is likely the best we can offer and teams will make better pitches then that. I would love to have him with our big 4 but DMC isn't walking through that door.

This is why I traded Cousins in the CB 2011 Draft. I was ahead of the curve. Heck didn't he get traded twice?

Would be an "out of this world" pickup if you guys got him, to be honest. Addresses a very pressing need for the Celtics. I honestly think his agent is just gonna Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. slap him, and tell him to just shut up, but long term, I see him needing to be on a team with established star veterans that would put him in his place (i.e. Kobe, or Pierce/KG).

A litte update. It doesnt seem like they gon trade him.

Quote
John Greig, agent for DeMarcus Cousins, and Paul Westphal are at odds on whether DeMarcus Cousins has requested a trade.

Cousins and Westphal had another shouting match with in the coach’s office, which led to the second-year big man to be asked to stay home from Sunday's game.

Greig contends that Cousins hasn't asked for a trade, but he was overheard by teammates saying the opposite.

“Trade me now,” Cousins was heard to yell after Saturday’s loss to the Knicks, a source told Y! Sports.

Kings co-owner Joe Maloof and general manager Geoff Petrie said they will not trade Cousins, regardless of his wishes.

“We’re happy that he’s a King,” Maloof told Y! Sports. “But when a coach asks you to do something, you got to do it. We’re not trading him. …We have great expectations for him. It’s just one of those things that happens.

“Sooner or later he’ll understand what the NBA is about. Just get along with people. That’s all.”

Teams interested in Cousins have called the Kings, but none believes the team will seriously consider trading him so early in his career.

“Once you saw that release only came from Westphal, that was a telltale sign that this was a coach venting and not a call to the league by management and ownership that they were trading Cousins,” one Eastern Conference executive told Y! Sports.

Cousins has been a difficult teammate to play with.

“He’s selfish,” one source close to the team said of Cousins. “He’s always angry or clowning. He needs to change. The Kings have been great about covering things up for him, and his agent has been protecting him.

“He’s always miserable. He acts like he’s entitled.”

Some players are frustrated with his lack of professionalism.

“He’s a bully, and they let him get away with it,” one source said. “No one wants to deal with the guy.”
Jack of all trades, master of none.
