I think a lot or all of them are restricted. Kevin Love would be cool.

I expect K.Love and E.Gordon to re-sign with their teams. Looks Dwight will be traded mid-season to a team he is willing to sign an extension with so that should rule him out too.

That leaves JaVale McGee off your list.

I think Love will sign a qualifying offer and just go out there as an unrestricted FA in 2013. I still think the Celtics have the money, the coach, and the point guard to land DH12. A lot of posters have debunked the theory of if a teams history comes into play, I think it can't hurt in the sales pitch.

What's the thrill with McGee?  He seems like a low IQ player.  He's got good size and long arms but I don't see the skills on either end of the court.

Nobody good unless we vastly over pay.

No top tier free agents are going to come to Boston with the current makeup of the team.  That is why Ainge wanted Chris Paul so badly.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I agree Ainge wanted Chris Paul very badly. But I'd be suprised if any major free agent who really understands basketball wouldn't be very interested in playing with Rondo, especially if they like scoring easy baskets.

But this is my opinion, which is, I think Rondo is a better "point guard" than Rose, Paul or Williams. His head might be difficult and his jump shot needs to improve.

But he steps up against the best talent and he can hurt you in more ways than any other point guard in the league.

If he gets a reliable jump shot - not a great one, just a reliable one - he will become, hands down, the best point in the league.

JaVale McGee and Kevin Love, with Rondo, would be a sick lineup. I think McGee just needs to be in the right program with the right coach to help him grow up. But outside of getting Howard, he's one of the few big men with true center height and length. And he has great athleticism.

Just for fun, what about Howard and Love???!!!

LOL. It's too difficult to tell if McGee has basketball smarts or not when he plays with so many other young, inexperienced low basketball IQ guys. That team is an absolute mess. I would take a chance on the guy if we can keep some of our vets past this year. If we just had a core of Rondo, McGee, and Pierce next year, I wouldnt be too excited.

McGee is a complete tool.

I think Ainge will be shopping draft picks and a fat trade exception next offseason.  Luis Scola, Big Al, Josh Smith, Ben Gordon, Mo Williams, Jason Richardson, Andre Iguodala...  Imperfect players that might not be highly valued by their teams by next season.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Eric Gordon will be restricted, he would be a cool backcourt mate for Rondo for years and years to come

  • Rondo = Good
None that are any good as rebuilding pieces.  The only free agents willing to come to Boston will be complementary players who will want to be paid as if they are key guys -- in other words, players who will want to be overpaid.

As for winning, we won't be doing a ton of that here after this season.  Back to the rebuilding bin after this season, unless the plan is to use cap space to cobble together a borderline-playoff mediocrity with Rondo carrying the show.

Totally forgot about Andrei Kirilenko.  Will be 31 next offseason. He'd be a great add on something like a 3 year deal.

What do you base the bolded part on?  Complementary players switch teams all the time for complementary money: look at Caron Butler and Sammy Dalembert this offseason.  Is there any reason why Boston should fair any worse than Houston or a pre-CP3 Clippers team in free agency?

He has a long term deal with CSKA Moskva. Dont know if he intends to opt out.
