I thought he looked great in the preseason but so far what's happened with him? I know he's drained some shots here and there but he looks completely lost out there. If he is still looking this way after 10-15 games letting D West go might come back to bite us. He's looked good in Dallas so far.  :-X

How exactly has West looked better than Dooling?

I think he has been great playing off the ball...just not very good with the ball in his hands.  So, pretty much exactly the way he has been his whole career.  Doc just needs to figure out how to best use him.

I think the key will be working the rotation so either Rondo or Pierce are on the floor at all times.  That way they can handle the majority of the ballhandling, and Dooling can stick with defending and shooting.

As I recall he drained 20 points that one game.  I don't miss Delonte one bit.  He would be hurt right now with a sore thumb or the like were he here.  West hasn't made much difference in Dallas has he?

23 mpg  for 6.8 points and burning hot .33% FG percentage.  His three shooting is even better at .22%.  4 APG and 1.5 TO's.

Keyon is playing 19 MPG.  He is averaging 9.1 PPG on .381% FG and .42% on three pointers.  He has 1.8 assists per game.

Call me crazy but I don't miss that West.  I miss David West not Delonte.

I think he's still looking to pass when he clearly has his shots.

only guy i've seen completely lost out there is bradley
dooling has looked good in spots, same as jermaine, kg and most the team
let doc get rotations set, let dooling get into a groove, he is going to be a better backup pg than eddie, sam, delonte (sorry) or steph

  • Rondo = Good
Yeah, I'm happy with what we've gotten from the new bench guys so far, with the exception of Wilcox (who has hardly played in any games that matter).

True.

Two other ideas:

1) I would like to see some more of Dooling with the starters and Rondo with the bench. I wouldn't advocate starting Dooling, but I like the idea of having him come in midway through the first for Rondo and playing with the Big Three for a bit. As you note, Pierce could help handle the ball and Dooling's range could work well with spacing. It'd also give Rondo a chance to run and gun with the more athletic bench.

2) When Dooling is out there without Rondo or Pierce, I'd like to see Marquis get a shot to run the offense. While he has been a bit turnover prone early on, there are advantage to this: Dooling can play off the ball and the other team needs to decide how to react. If they put a 2 on Marquis, the 2 likely has less experience full court pressing a ball handler, making Marquis's job easier. If they put a 1 on Marquis, he has a favorable size advantage and he can work to post up the smaller player.

he just went 0-5, 0-2 3's last night, as a starter. Vincanity should start at sg anyway.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Dooling has been completely lost out there his entire NBA career.

He defends and make shots, that's what he can do. The decision-making is horrible, he has brain farts way too often for a point-guard.

They keep mixing him in as a 1 or 2; I'm sure that's not helping him.  Remember in the preseason he was getting lots of minutes at the 1.  But in the regular season Rondo is going to take most of the 1 minutes.  I think he'll be fine after an adjustment period.  He's certainly one of the more serviceable 1/2 backups we've had in recent years.

I thought Keyon had a good game yesterday. He had four assists, if i recall correctly, and did a pretty good job managing the offense. If he can run the offense and hit 3s I'll be happy.

and stay healthy...really, I see the whole Dooling vs. West as equals...but durability wins out IMO
