So lopsided.  No one wants JO at this point, he has no value which is why the David West acquisiton probably fell through.

Memphis get a backup center and gets rid of a sg that is in the dog house and a little more cap space next year.

I don't think a 2nd rounder is enough.

1) Mayo may be somewhat in the dog house but he is very valuable to them still.  They seem to switch off between TA and Mayo depending on if they need scoring punch or defense.  They need Mayo's shooting.

2) Memphis probably isn't landing any big free agents and I think their team as is needs to develop.  They should be concerned with keeping all their current players foremost.

3) They will get much better offers for Mayo then that offer.  Again, JO doesn't have worth like that.  At the MLE he is making too much money.  Memphis does need another big, but they can figure out a better move for a better and more reliable big man.

If you throw in a 1st rounder maybe then you can talk more reasonably, but even still I have to believe they would get much better offers for Mayo.

I'd happily swap a 1st for Mayo.  A proven NBA player is worth more than a draft pick.  It could jumpstart the reloading a few years more quickly.

That isn't happening even if the Memphis GM was on blow.

I'd be less happy.  Depends on where the pick is in the draft and how deep the draft is.  Also, this deal leaves us thin up front and thick at SG.  Talent-wise it's a no-brainer for the C's but Mayo isn't addressing the biggest need which is a functional big man.

JO + 1st,

or

JO + Avery (if danny can sell them on avery being as good as he says he can be)

With the likeliness that the Clips finsih the season with a good record and we dont' get that pick, I would consider a JO,Bradley and that 1st rounder for OJ Mayo and a 2nd round pick.

That way Pietrus backs up Pierce, Mayo backs up Ray, and we'd have a solid bench, and a roster spot for a backup big if need be next month(KMart?)

Memphis could use the size, b/c even if JO played every other game, he'd still produce more than Haddad Haddi.
Bradley works behind Tony to keep the defensive mindset flowing, and the pick is a toss up
Can't stop, Rondo!

JO will need to show he can produce and stay on the court to have any value...he has done neither thus far.

If you think this is reasonable, I dare you to post it on a Grizzlies blog.

Here's how this usually works: One team sends bad contracts and picks to a team for expiring contracts.

Picks don't turn a bad deal into a good one unless the team knows the players they are likely to get with that pick, weighed against what they are giving up.

JO may be baby-faced, but he is not a young man. Teams don't trade youth for the elderly, unless it's a 2007 Celts type deal, and we weren't the ones getting picks in that situation.

The only way the Cs don't get the pick is if the clippers finish 15 or better.

This is true, but its also true that you don't trade big for small. But with this being said Mayo isn't going back to memphis after this year so its a win win for both teams.
