Is KG Done?

KG has always been a profuse sweater.   I think it's father time rather than him being out of shape but that is just me.   I still think he can contribute.

Theoretically, the veterans should have a marked advantage post lockout.   They knew what to expect.  KG played in the last lockout in 98-99 didn't he?   So I think the lockout excuse is just that.

LBJ doesn't have the mentality of Jordan.  Jordan even before he won didn't whither in the playoffs but rather scored tremendously in losses.  Jordan was 28.  James is younger at 27.  But he lacks the killer instinct of Jordan.  Jordan was less well rounded but flat out a better shooter.  I actually think LeBron is the Pippen in MIA and Wade is their Jordan.   Bosh is well I better not go there....

Don't get me wrong I love KG, but he looks just about done to me. He doesn't make much of an impact offensively or defensively. I will be surprised if he doesn't retire after this year. Sad.

Not gonna happen. Wanna know why? Cause he might be done.

As I said before, KG just can't bring it every night but he can be great on any one night. But an absolute guarantee is that at some point in the next three games, he's going to suck, bad.

That's just what he is. He will be great for a game. Pretty good for one or two games and then awful for a game. Its what players at his age and with his mileage do.

I love KG and hope we see more nights like tonight than nights like that one in New orleans but I think we will see a bunch of both types of night and a whole lot of nights that fall somewhere in between.

I think he doesn't have what it takes to go insane every game. This isn't 2000 folks. He's better off if he paces himself and has a few off nights.

  He only played 28 minutes tonight and his next three games are home games on Monday, Wednesday and Friday against the Wizards, Nets and Pacers. He may play poorly in any of those games but it's far from an absolute lock that he'll suck, bad.

I think someone called Garnett a top 3-4 PF in this league still. Well, for one game, that might be correct. But if I'm about to go into a tough, seven game playoff series and want and need a great consistent job coming out of the PF position, these are PFs I would want on my team before KG, now:
Definitely:

Zach Randolph
Amar'e Stoudemire
Dirk Nowitzki
Blake Griffin
Kevin Love
LaMarcus Aldridge
Pau Gasol

Probably:

Chris Bosh
Anderson Varejao
Josh Smith
David West

Possibly:

I love KG but is there any denying that in the playoffs last year and for most of the end of last year he was hit or miss with what he could give you on any given night? Especially defensively. When the games went to every other day, every third game was a complete dud for KG.

I love the guy, think the world of him and am willing to give him and the team some time to round into shape. But, I think time and a condensed schedule is going to show that he has lost a step, is slowing down, and that there are a lot of PFs out there now playing on the same level as he is.

So you would go into the playoffs with virtually no defense at the PF position. Yeah many a titles were won with this game plan.

 Only a couple of the players you mentioned play good individuel or team defense. Yes there are a couple there that I would take over KG, RIGHT NOW. But only the ones that play D.

Oh I don't think he is bad at all. I still think he's a top 10 PF in the league and probably top 3-4 defensive PF in the league. But some of these guys all around game is just consistently better than KG's now. Blake, Randolph, Dirk and Amar'e are all first option offense quality guys. That makes a huge difference. Love, Aldridge and Gasol's and probably Bosh's all around games are just better than KG's now.

But KG is right there after that. Top 10. At his age and with the miles on that body, that's dang good and very respectable. And if Bass continues with the way he has started, that's all we will need from KG because when you consider starter and backup, they might be the best PF tandem in the league.

I'm stunned by this turn of events. Ive complained about KG for years starting early in the season he got hurt. He was limping down the run ways and grabbing his knee after alley oops before the Utah game. Then he looked like a high school player on defense the year he came back. The year after he was much better, the year we should have won the title against LA. But he has been VASTLY overrated since the title year, DUE TO INJURIES.

Now some of you have gone way to far, in my opinion. He is nothing like he once was, but he was once OUT OF THIS WORLD. Please think about Bobby Jones of the 76ers, this is what he is now. KG still is one of the best team defenders in the league. If we are going to go zone, you couldn't have a better anchor besides DuuuWight. Its ok that he the way he is now. He isn't done it just seems awful because of how great he was.

I think he does well on defense still.  Sometimes his legs look flat and his shot front rims.  He is getting older and this is bound to happen.

I think our biggest issue with KG should be that he doesnt play inside enough.  For a guy who uses the big tough guy act, he actually plays pretty soft.

hes still a great role player... just as hes been since after 07-08 and the injury

He doesn't have Perk to work as a meat shield anymore and he's lost some quickness without gaining strength. He's not done, he's just not a top 5, top 10, or even top 20 player anymore.

KG is not done,he is still a top of the league,it is normal for the loockout veteran players, they have to take shape.

The problem with KG is that he's not playing anything inside, and his jumper is inconsistent at the end of 4th quarters (and he's taking some long ones). Other than that he's completely fine. This "done" notion is absurd in my opinion.
