Okay, so I've always been one of those guys who laughed at people who thought the Celtics were awful and needed to blow it up after every loss, or 2 or 3 losses in a row. The truth be told, I'm not laughing at them this year. This team looks legititly bad this year. Yea, I know they are intergrating new players, and missing Pierce, but they really look old. I think that's the only way to put it, old and soft. They scored over 100 points in the first 2 games and they still weren't really close. While Ray and KG can still hit jump shots, neither can play defense anymore. Rondo is getting burned by the likes of Jack, and I don't even want to start talking about JO or the lack of anything better in the middle. The shortened season with tons of back to back games certainly isn't going to help.

Listen, it happens, teams get old and have rebuilding years. I think that's what we're in for this year. The GOOD thing is they are in pretty good shape, money wise to be a good team again by next year.

As for it stil being preseason; it's the same for every team. It was preseason for NOLA and they kicked butt with a bunch of new players and no Gordon. It certainly didn't look like preseason for Miami.

No, I'm afraid it is what it is. A rebuilding year. There are 2 bright spots, however. One, it's a short season, the the pain won't last as long. Two, could be a really high draft pick next year.

Happy New Year to all.

So you are lowering your expectations to 28 wins and 38 losses good for the 10th worst recored in the league and picking number 10 in the draft?

I could see this being a 500 team, and since it's only 66 games, I could see low 30's wins. Look I don't want to come off as overly negitive but I hope I'm wrong, but that's what I'm thinking right now.

The first two games should be considered "MORAL VICTORIES".

Why?

Game 1 - @NYK

Nothing went our way, and I mean NOTHING. Two phantom technicals in the 4th quarter was the difference between winning and losing this game. Not bad for an old squad without it's best player.

Game 2 - @Heat

Again, nothing went our way. The Heat seemed to hit EVERYTHING early on. This Celtics team showed heart and hustle when it CLAWED its way back into the game in the 3rd and 4th quarters. It was a 3 point game with 1:22 left in the 4th. Again, not bad for an old squad playing arguably the most athletic squad ON THE ROAD. Don't forget that another terrible call ruined this game. Remember Norris Cole sliding/not set and getting that charge call...? Yeah I didn't want to remember it either, but one or two calls not going our way in the 4th is the difference between victory and defeat.

Game 3 - @NO

This should NOT be considered a moral victory. Rondo was lazy, the starters were mailing it in, and Brandon Bass morphed into Big Baby. I suspect we won't see another poor effort like this throughout the remainder of the season. We might suffer another unforeseen loss, but the key word is effort.

Pretty sad that the NYK and MIA games were closer and actually had a chance of winning compared to NOH. They kept saying tired and back to back and I expected this, but come on. Why were KG, rondo, and ray in so long, even into the fourth? JJJ should have been on the by the 2nd or 3rd quarter. Didn't look tired, more just apathetic and I can't blame them i guess.

But sure, i look at this as preseason.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

It was the first of several we'll see during the year ... as will every other team in the league.

The condensed schedule guarantees that.

We're still kinda in preseason, but so are the teams we're facing.

No excuse to lose to a team like New Orleans.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

I just put on my rose colored glasses. Oooohhh yes much better. There should be no 1st's or last's in the NBA, much to emotional for folks. No winners or losers. That Hippie Era was so cool. Man was there even an NBA then. What a blurr. We aren't 0/3 now right? I feel a lot better about tonite's game. Now if only those dastardly refs would help out.

Yeah, that post was so brilliant.  I can see why you posted it twice.

My apologies, couldn't find where to delete it. For your astuteness a Tommy Point. Enjoy.
