Russell Westbrook let his emotions get the best of him Wednesday night, and it led to an altercation with Kevin Durant on the bench during a second-quarter timeout.

Westbrook never recovered and finished with arguably the worst performance of his career, scoring just four points on 0-for-13 shooting with six assists, three rebounds and four turnovers.

Westbrook's frustration appeared to have started with just 3 1/2 minutes remaining in the second quarter when he drove into the paint and kicked the ball out to Thabo Sefolosha in the corner. Sefolosha passed up a wide open 3-pointer, which prompted Westbrook to yell at Sefolosha “shoot the (expletive) ball.”

Sefolosha and other teammates, including Durant and center Kendrick Perkins attempted to calm Westbrook down immediately during an ensuing trip to the free throw line. But the emotions spilled over to the bench one minute later.

Durant appeared to again settle Westbrook, but Westbrook appeared to take exception to how Durant delivered his message. The two began shouting at each other and had to be separated.

Durant patted Westbrook on the head when the two took the court out of the timeout, and the two seemed to communicate well throughout the rest of the game.

I don't really like Westbrook's personality, but there's no doubt the kid is highly skilled and easily a top 20 talent in the league. If he wants to be the man on the team the c's would be a perfect fit. The  C's are severely lacking a scorer who can create his own shot and with PP out and aging there is no one else on the team to make a play on a consistent basis.

Rondo would be great with Durant Harden and throwing alley oops to Ibaka. We already know that Perkins and Rondo are best friends so it would be a great addition to their chemistry IMO.

Danny reportedly offered Rondo for Westbrook this off-season, but was turned down, but if Westbrook and Durant keep having altercations they are going to have to move Westbrook.

So do you think OKC would do a deal of Rondo for Westbrook? Maybe c's throw in a pick ?

OVERRATED! I wouldn't make the trade for couple of reason. First of all, Russel Westbrook is mental midget low BBIQ. 9/10 he makes the wrong B-ball decision. I hate his me-first attitude very immature. His only saving grace in the NBA is his athleticism. Secondly, Rondo is showing C's glimpses of the future. Where he single-handedly dismantled the Cavaliers in 2010. His shooting is coming around. 6 years into his NBA career, Rondo has a lot of room to improve as a player. Last but not least, Sam Presti has gotten the better of Danny Ainge. I would advice DA to stay far away from Sam Presti. Last time those two made a deal, Celtics got fleeced.

So you want to trade our best player and a draft pick as well for a shoot-first point guard who's lack of ball distribution is seen as a big part of why his team got knocked out of the playoffs because you read an article about him fighting with his teammates?

So Westbrook yells at his teammate to shoot the ball and he is all of a sudden a selfish prick.  Funny.

If the future is a place where Rondo will put up massive fantasy stats, but we're going to lose, ship him out of town right away. Someone like Mo williams can do that for a fraction of  the cost ;)

Rondo has been asked to be the alpha dog this season, and so far he hasn't gotten it done. The Big 3 may not be viable first options anymore -- but they're still a pretty good supporting cast. Probably better than anything we will be able to put around Rondo for a while.

Agreed.  I think this is a non-issue.  It's an emotional game, things happen.  They are grown men, they yell at each other for a little bit, but end of the day everything is gravy.  It's not like they were swinging at each other.

I'm not even sure why OKC would want Rondo..their starting lineup as is cannot score/shoot between Sefolosha, Ibaka, and Perkins. Replace Westbrook with Rondo and you have even less scoring and shooting.

Rondo is a better team player and not near as hot tempered as WestbrooK.

Th

The problem with Boston is "RONDO" is all we have worth keeping in terms of real value.  Very sad...

Our team is like an old luxury car with 500,000 miles on it . Old and used up , but still dear to our hearts . SO how long do you want to have ex alstar  orniments.

My grandmother could out run KG lastnight and he had ZERO inside game , no energy a, no turn around jumpers, no box out s, completely useless.

Well it's not all of a sudden and not the only reason, but it is a definite indication. Selfish doesn't just mean shooting the ball all the time. it means thinking of yourself first, and the fact that Westbrook gets to the point of having an altercation with the by far best player on the team because a guy doesn't shoot when HE passes the ball to him pretty much indicates that this guy is living in his own world.

whoever started the Starbury comparison seems to be right on the money, extremely talented but just off, for whatever reason...it just seems like there is always gonna be some drama around this guy that detracts from the team.

I think Rondo is a better player than Westbrook, a highly skillled PG, and would not trade him straight up.
