You are right...and I will enjoy it!

I still will never, ever, ever, ever, ever count this group of hall of famers out. Just get to the playoffs and let us all enjoy one. more. run.

Im looking forward to it!

I think most people expected this was the last year for KG and Ray here and the we would be a bad team next year if we couldn't get someone like Howard.

I think fans were split on this year, with a reasonable amount having low expectations and others getting upset when ESPN.com rankings had us 5th in the East.

So long as we make the playoffs one last time, even as a 7 seed, I'm fine. I just want one last chance to leave it all out there before rooting for the new guys during the rebuilding phase.

Either that or move Ray and don't worry about this year.

I think it's seriously up in the air whether the group we see out there right now is going to finish the season.

If injuries really bog them down and they are hovering around .500 going into February and early March, I really think Danny could move Ray, KG, Rondo . . . even Pierce.  I don't think anybody would be off the table.

Yeah, I think they've got about thirty games to show that they might be able to make some noise in the playoffs.  If not, I could see Ray Allen being moved; I've got to think that Chicago would still love to have him.

I don't see KG being traded because I don't see how any of the contending teams would be able to put together a deal, given the size of his contract.  I do think there's a real good chance he hangs it up after this season.

Pierce, I don't think goes anywhere.  He's the one guy that I think ownership wants to make [dang] sure retires as a Celtic.  I could *maybe* see him asking for a trade at some point (go play with Chris Paul on the Clips?), but if he leaves it'll be an amicable parting.  Management wants Paul Pierce to remain a face of the franchise long past his retirement - they want him to be a guy who comes to games in fifteen or twenty years and gets a standing ovation.

The big question is, as always...  Rondo.

EDIT: I should say, I don't want it to seem like I'm throwing the towel in on the season.  I think they have it in them to make one last run, but it's going to require a lot of good luck.  It's going to require guys getting (and staying) healthy.  It's going to require JO getting back at least to his level of two seasons ago.  It's going to require some of the young guys making contributions.  The potential is there for this team, but it's going to require a whole lot of good things to fall into place.

Enjoy It Folks...We're Witnessing The Last Run

Kind of looks like a slow crawl, but I'll still watch.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

This is definitely the last run for this group of Celtics.. But, i still have faith that we can pull it off this year.. We need Pierce back, we need to start the steamroller, and we need pietrus to join the team.. then i think we'll eventually hit our stride and people will be jumping right back on the bandwagon.. *sips green koolaid*

Of course its always fun to hope for the unexpected. It seems all the best players have run/been drafted to about 8 teams ...and not even dollars will pry them away. So ..if we can't BUY our way into contention ...it is up to  *LADY LUCK*

but ....realisticily ...

banner number 18 will most likely come from a group of guys we've never heard of (still in grade school) or possibly not even born yet.

Well, it's still very early.  Had we had PP, we could've won either of the first two games.  And had the New Orleans game been the first game of the season, we likely would've beaten them too.

I'm not happy with the start, but I don't think things are as bad as they seem.

Furthermore, I wouldn't necessarily take the "last run" thing to the bank.  While I agree it's likely, if Danny decides that no FA is worth big bucks next summer (meaning we miss out on Dwight) and Ray and KG want one last hurrah, I could see another year happen.

And to be honest, I'd rather see that happen than what the Bulls did when they missed out on Duncan in the early 2000s (when they gave Ron Mercer a big deal) or what the Pistons did a few years ago when they had a ton of space (and signed Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva to big deals).  The very worst thing that could happen next summer is that Danny spends money on mediocre players just because he has it.

Just like the last two years, all my green chips are pushed into the middle of the NBA Poker table.

No time to speculate on future moves. If the NBA poker gods hand me Joey Crawford, Bill Kennedy, Knick Bavetta, and Ken Mauer so be it.
The beatings will continue until morale improves
