...of this group of players.  With the salary cap situation being what it is next season, We're going to watch this team make one last limp toward the playoffs.

Soak it in, as I see the possibility of painful years ahead for this franchise (cap space doesn't guarantee success).

This isn't a one-game reaction.  0-3 is no accident, Pierce or no Pierce.  Tommy can throw out all the excuses he wants, but that NOH team was thrown together just last week and was missing their best player tonight.  The Heat are the team to beat, and the Knicks handled us for the most part and believe THEY are the team to beat in the Atlantic.

I'm going to try and enjoy this team as much as I can because I believe we are witnessing the beginning of the end of "the big three"...

Yep.  I'm gonna try and get tickets to a game, hopefully one in which all of the Big 3 and Rondo are playing.  Last season to do that, I think.

This is the farewell tour for this championship group.  They had a good run, but back in the summer of '07 we all pretty much figured the window would be 3 years anyway.  That turned out to be pretty much right, even though the fourth year (last year) was still quite competitive.  Here we are in the fifth year and it looks like the wheels are finally coming off.

Still, we can all look back on this era quite fondly -- and I think that's all we might have for quite a while after this.

unfortunately, we witnessed the end of this era with the Perk trade last year. this group hasn't been the same team since.

the fact that youre implying we arent contenders after 3 games is hilarious....

did you forget this team was #1 in the east for the vast majority of the last season (this year)?

i'm not implying anything.  this team is not a contender this season.  and i'm not basing that on 3 games, at no point have i felt that this group of players was going to seriously contend for a title this season.

this team was one of the best in the league for about a third of the season last year, and that was with a healthy shaq.  shaq was a game changer, but he was too old to last.  this team now is more or less what we had at the end of last season only minus jeff green.  that's not going to cut it.

i went into this off-season feeling strongly that Danny had to pull off a major move to put this team in the conversation, and unfortunately he wasn't able to.  so it goes.

I think most people expected this was the last year for KG and Ray here and the we would be a bad team next year if we couldn't get someone like Howard.

I think fans were split on this year, with a reasonable amount having low expectations and others getting upset when ESPN.com rankings had us 5th in the East.

So long as we make the playoffs one last time, even as a 7 seed, I'm fine. I just want one last chance to leave it all out there before rooting for the new guys during the rebuilding phase.

Either that or move Ray and don't worry about this year.

Yes.  Getting back the players you mentioned would put the Celtics closer to where they were at the end of last season, but again, they weren't nearly good enough then, so I don't see any reason to view things differently now.

I think it's seriously up in the air whether the group we see out there right now is going to finish the season.

If injuries really bog them down and they are hovering around .500 going into February and early March, I really think Danny could move Ray, KG, Rondo . . . even Pierce.  I don't think anybody would be off the table.

I hope Danny doesn't move PP unless he asks to be traded to a contender. PP should retire a Celtic.

I still think we have a shot to pull off a magical season.  It's not looking great right now, but luckily it's still very early.

I've been reading this since KG had knee troubles in 2009. It's still a little early to throw dirt on this team.
