Rethinking this. Maybe these guys would be available if things go bad for their team this year. Maybe in a trade for cap relief and a 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder:
Joe Johnson
Josh Smith
LaMarcus Aldridge
Elton Brand
Al Jefferson
Rudy Gay
Are any of these guys really someone we want to invest max money in and invest the future on?
absolutely not
Yeah, I came to the same conclusion.
Aldridge, Smith, Jefferson, and Gay are all quality young players who could be key pieces on a very good team at some point. But none of them is a franchise talent. I'd give any of those guys money if I already have a good foundation for a team in place and I just needed another piece. But for a rebuilding team, those aren't the sort of players in whom you invest a huge chunk of your payroll.
So yeah, for the most part I agree.
