I say 8-4. @ Miami, @ Indiana, and another game thrown in there somewhere.

I think most posters are assuming PP is gonna be back and basing records on that.  He's only practiced once! MP according to DA hasn't even stepped on a court since his surgery!
Just don't think fans appreciate how extremely key PP is to the fate of this team.
With that said, after reading some of your posts, and enthusiasm, I'll hedge my original prediction and say 7-5, best case!

given the injuries to pierce and pietrus being delayed...

7-5 is a good guess. but i would not be surprised by 8-4 either.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Agreed as to people seeming underconcerned about Pierce, in that he himself said this week it could be a couple of months before he returns.

It's going to be the longest, short season ever

6-6. A lot of tough games and 2 back-to-backs. I say they beat Washington twice, the Nets, the Pistons, the Hornets and the Mavericks. On their way to a 38-28 season at best.

So the best the Celts can do would be the equivalent of 9 games worse than last year? Wow.

I must be dense. I don't get your point.

8-4

I just hope the second round matchups are as so:

Bulls V Celtics
Knicks V Heat

It's wishful thinking to think the Bulls and Heat would match up in the 2nd round, so I won't bother. However the scenario above would be very nice. NY matches up well with Miami.

In a shortened season with injury issues and the East getting even tougher?  Yeah, that doesn't sound too unrealistic.  If Paul, Ray, or KG miss significant time (10-15 games) we could definitely be looking at the equivalent of a 45-48 win season here.  I mean, they only won 50 a couple years back when they were coasting / stumbling their way through the regular season, and that's when the Big 3 were a couple years younger.

Still, I think the equivalent of a 50-53 win season is more likely, unless one our key players miss a combined 25+ games.

So if you think that the equivalent of 50-53 wins is likely, one would assume that you'd think that the best they could do is at least a few wins more than that. In other words, loathe though you are to admit it, you seem to agree with me.

If everything breaks right for them, I suppose they could have a Spursian type performance in the regular and win the equivalent of 57 or 58 games, but I just don't think they're going to be that lucky.  I have a feeling the injury bug is going to hit them hard this year.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

7-5

Something like this:

@ Knicks -- Loss
@ Heat -- Loss
@ Hornets -- Win
vs. Pistons -- Win
@ Wizards -- Win
vs. Wizards -- Loss
vs. Nets -- Win
vs. Pacers -- Win
vs. Mavericks -- Win
vs. Bulls -- Win
@ Pacers -- Loss
vs. OKC Thunder -- Loss

It's so hard to forecast with the uncertainty around Paul and, to a lesser extent, Pietrus.

Without either of them, the 5 games against the Hornets, Pistons, Wizards and Nets are the only ones we'd be favored in, with the two games against the Pacers a toss-up (though defending Granger would be a pain).  With them, I'd favor us in the 2 games against the Pacers, and over the struggling new-look Mavs.

So without PP, 6/6, with him (by the first Pacers game), 8/4.

2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

9-3 if Pierce comes back soon. Otherwise... I'd say 7-5.
