  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
What would the reaction be here if Lebron put a choke hold on one of the Celtics after a game ended?
By league, nothing would happen. Maybe a fine. But Lebron is just too big to be choking people as he could actually hurt somebody. It wasn't a double choke by KG anyway. But as fans we see things the way we want to see them.

The point is, there would be a 20-page thread here with posters going nuts if Lebron did this to one of the Celtics. There is no place for crap like this in professional sports. It is total bush league.

Bush League?
Have you ever played sports at a competitive level?
It's always so easy to sit on the couch and criticize what these guys do- hard to know what your reaction would be when a guy says something over the top. KG knows the difference between on the court banter and legitimate hate from a jealous ex Celtic like Bill Walker. The Celtics are KG's family- so he defends them like his family and lets the Knicks know that it's not gonna fly.

Of course, that's your opinion which is fair enough and I can understand your disgust. Another opinion is that this kind of thing is what makes rivalries and sports that much more exciting. Of course we don't want people getting into brawls every game- but a bit of pushing, shoving and getting up  at each other is what is going to make the Knickc/Celtics rivalry that much more entertaining to watch.

Wow..I only saw the recap clip from ESPN, but it looked like Bill Walker was egging KG on.

I'm not sure what's up with these younger players who haven't done ANYTHING in the league yet, but BWalk should concentrate more on his game.

The way I see it, KG's skills will and are diminishing, but he is still the same competitive KG. And even with the natural aging, the man put up 1st team Defensive awards last season and was runner-up to Dwight Howard for best defender last year - at 35 years of age.

Even this year I'm sure KG won't fall off of a cliff with his skills diminishing.

He will get into someone's head big-time, but he doesn't hurt his opponents:

Also ask Gerald Wallace and Michael Beasley about Drew Bynum.

and KG does what? Looked to me like he pushed away the upstart Walker who was yapping in his grill - as he should have.

If you watch the replay, after KG takes the last shot of the game, Bill Walker hooks his arm and pulls KG away quite hard- with intent to hurt him/p--- him off.
KG then shakes him arm loose, and Walker says something which sets KG off his rocket.

Seems like people are making a big deal out of nothing.

Someone who really cares about the guy needs to sit down with him and give it to him honestly: he needs to shut and just play ball.  He no longer has the skills to back it up, and watching him wilt late in games this year, as I believe we will witness this a lot more this season, will be painful to watch.

Yeah, that's just what we need, someone to sit KG down and tell him that he's just not a great player any more and he shouldn't try and act like he is. *That* should improve things.

By the way, love how Walker backs away until there's 3-4 people between him and KG and then decides to try and go after KG.

That last interaction between KG and Walker was one of the best parts of the game ... I love KG's intensity and "chippiness", as this game needs more emotion and physicality. KG has not "wilted" late in games ... he's just being who he is, and wearing Celtic Pride the way it should be worn. Red would love this kind of play and intensity as I do, and I hope the NBA loosens up a bit with some of these absurd taunting calls and so-called "hard" fouls ... let the boys play, please! You bring it, Ticket!

It was a push not a choke.  The stills make it look worse than it was folks.   Had he latched on the real damage would have been done.   The neck is one of the more vulnerable targets on the body.  One atemi strike to trachea and someone is toast.

No one got hurt and it was the heat of battle during a televised game.   I think he will get suspended but tempers oft flow over in the heat of battle.

I love KG..that guy was a huge part of banner 17...I don't care what he does on court anymore...he got my respect in 2007-'08 and nothing will change that...a scrub like Bill Walker deserves it if he is going to talk trash to a HOF like KG...Walker isn't worthy of holding KG's jockstrap.

Yeah, I'm with you 100%. TP

It is who he is though! Always has been from day one of his career. Personally Walker deserved what he got....the 'choke' business, while full on, is the go to move for angry players if you look closely, it's the only physical interaction they can make without hitting....so it lets people know they mean business. NBA players are big on respect, you don't show respect you get what's coming to you.....

Also, it was the FIRST game of the season!!!

we can't even compare larry's legend to KG's unmatched tenacity..either way, both are effective, competitive and results oriented..larry takes his strength from passivity while KG from his outward spunk, definitely emanating from different spectrum levels but both  bleeding green..i resent people, specially "bandwagoners" who instigate KG's demeanor as detrimental to the team's cause, mind you folks, he takes to the court all the grit to give the team you are supposedly siding on a 'W'..day in and day out he lays it on the line like no other, if you hate his tenacity, his "heart" for the game, willingness to win and pride to wear that shamrock on his chest, then i suggest you go cheer for another team...

I must be the only one who over the last year and a half sees KG losing control of his emotions a little more often. But I guess most people think his out of control behavior is fine, so let him be. It will cost the Celtics some games this year, but since they are not going to win the title, I guess it really doesn't matter.

And people keep saying he was "defending his team." Who was he defending? He was angry because he missed the winning shot. Be a bigger man and walk off the floor. Don't acknowledge a punk like Bill Walker

Such a martyr all alone in the wilderness.

Wait the OP made a statement first that you agreed with? Others also agreed with you, or partially. Guess you aren't alone after all, rejoice!
