Is it now unfair to make fun of Sterling's alleged desire to save money instead of winning? Sterling tried to sign Baron Davis and keep Elton Brand a few years ago. He also has seemed willing to put players around Griffin.

Perhaps he just needed a legit star to feel it was a good idea to increase his exposure. Remember when they were an up and coming team 6 or 7 years ago but they didn't wrap up all their young guys? What happened to those guys? Who was really worth keeping? Odom? They were lucky that Brand jumped ship. Maggette is not a difference maker. Kaman was one of the better players and they held on to him.

The closest thing to a player to build around recently was Brand and we know how that ended.

Perhaps it is like poker. Wait for a reasonable hand before risking your money.

Even if you have to stop making fun of Sterling being cheap, you can still make fun of his admiration for "beautiful black bodies".

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I'll stop calling him cheap with his players as long as I can continue to mock him for being a racist, and a general scumbag.

My Celtics rebuilding plan contains an allowance for a 10% chance that Sterling does something stupid that makes Blake Griffin to Boston a possibility.

Here's a reality check for all you bashing the Clips: Blake Griffin has now made the LA Clippers a more popular/desirable destination than the BOS Celtics.  And with the addition of CP3 it's only made the gap that much bigger.

Get over yourself. The Clips may be more popular now, but we can still bash them.

He's owned the Clippers for like 30 years. That's a lot of waiting.

Donald Sterling is a scumbag for sure, but greenpride has a point.

Blake Griffin, and now CP3, have made the Clippers a more exciting and relevant team than the Celtics, and in all likelihood they will be for a long while.

You sound fairly impressed. Thinking of switching your allegiance from the Thunder to La Clips?

I know you like to exaggerate often but this is a tad too much.

Thunder and Clips are the two teams I most want to watch this season after the Celtics.

But no, the Thunder are a better team.

Okay -- so how long do you think it will be before the Celtics have ONE star as talented and exciting as Blake Griffin or Chris Paul, let alone two?

Three years?  Five?  Ten?

The only wild card is a career derailing / ending injury to one or both of those guys.  And I mean, they're on the Clippers, so it's totally in play.

But assuming things like curses don't exist, I think the Clips are set for a long while, and the Celtics will have to get very lucky to get guys like that anytime soon.

Before we start gushing over Sterling, remember LA as a city/weather is a more desirable destination for players than Boston.

that's true.  regardless of how well managed the Celtics are, LA is always going to be warmer, more diverse, and more exciting than Boston in the eyes of a young player.

You're an evergreen pessimist, I get that...but what if (I know its not likely..but its possible) Danny is able to land Howard.

I'll take Rondo, Jeff Green and Howard over CP3, Griffin and DeAndre Jordan any day.

You're talking as if we have ZERO chance to land a star....which doesn't make sense and something I don't agree with at all.

To me the Celtics are still the most exciting and relevant team in the league.  I like basketball based on a team offensive approach and lockdown defense.

I guess if big name superstars and lots of impressive alley oop dunks is what you admire, I can see why you would be into the Clippers.
