Other NBA players would likely vote for PP, but this was voted for by the public. Rondo likely wouldnt make it, because to be considered for the list, the general public had to have at least a 10% awareness of them. Outside of hardcore NBA fans, not many people are that familiar with Rondo.
Haha. Rondo never sells jerseys, gets votes for the all-star team, shows up on sportscenter or the like and the Celts never draw a big audience when they're on national tv. At least, as far as you know...
As I said before, People who buy sports jerseys (or vote for all star teams, watch a lot of sportscenter, etc) are hardcore sports fans. Those people will have a high % awareness of most starting NBA players, and would have probably led to a very different list being compiled.
The list was made by polling people who had as little as a 10% awareness of the players. Thats more like someone who heard their name before and knew maybe a thing or two about them. Someone who only knows the names on the 1st page of the sports section, cuz thats all they ever read.
Look at it like this...outside of Boston, how many peoples girlfriends do you think know who Rondo is? Almost none. They know Humphries and Odom well, have seen gossip magazine stories about "metta world peace", and have probably seen a few sports page headlines about the others.
Rondo is NOT anywhere near one of the most "recognized" players in he league. To basketball fans he is, but to regular people who only have a passing interest in sports (the type with only a 10% awareness of who a player is), he doesnt even rank. Those people would very likely think Humphries and Odom, are bigger name players than Rondo, because their only connection to basketball is reality TV, and those 2 were advertised as "NBA stars"...while the name "Rondo" has never appeared in any of their shows, or magazines.
It's not a knock on Rondo...just a result of the survey parameters
