Well, it seems old baby has put new effort into hs new team, he put up 18 points in orlando....a nice contributon, something we had seen....sometimes when he was here. Constant production or any form of consistancy was not his strong point, besides not knowing his role   ::)    Bass, on the other hand, is doing what we saw him do in orlando, driving, rebounding, easily dunking and elevating, NOT getting his shot blocked, and moving well without the ball. YES, one game, not enough to make any decisions regarding the two...lets keep an eye on this comparison..I am quite sure BBD will go back to being who he is....overweight, lazy, "temperMENTAL " no rebounds, while Bass will grow into a solid "in the paint" type..i bet he could average 10 points and 10 rebounds easy..! And does he look overweight....hahah, not even close...!
More evidence how people fall for the superficial. Points, dunking, not getting their shot blocked...

Bass is currently a marginal defensive contributor on our team. He's two steps slow on everything, was losing his man in regularity, and showed rudimentary ability to provide help defense. Sure, maybe he'll improve, but at this point it looks like we got what we paid for. It's an open question whether what we got is what we need.

well, i don't think that is superficial, but no big deal. Hopefully Bass will do what we need..!

Looking forward to Bass getting used to playing with Rondo, I laughed out loud at all of those passes in the preseason games that bounced right out of his hands because he wasn't expecting them.

There was one of those last night.  It was kind of a crazy pass, it was a bounce pass that was almost a dribble back up into his hand by Rondo, but he angled it so it would find Bass to his right who was trailing a little bit and it bounced off his hands.  He'll see those coming eventually.

Everyone goes through this with Rondo.  They don't call his game unorthodox for no reason.
Well, don't they say PP's game is unorthodox also.? I think I heard that many times, probably why he really never got the star treament he deserves..even Tommy said that. But i am not picking at you....I think he will enoy the rondo passes soon enough...he does put them inot the hands...not many are used to getting it because most others don't / can't do it...and would rather try for their own points than an assist, another reason why i love rondo..!

All I know is it feels like Bass has had more dunks in the past two games then Glen Davis did all of last season.  With inside scoring being an issue, I'll take it!
do it

Defense wins championships, sure, but that's largely because getting turnovers off great defense can also open up offensive opportunities. A fast break off a steal or a rebound (from forcing a low-percentage shot) can be an easy bucket, and Bass is good for that part of it, too.

As I type this, I recall BBD getting rejected by the rim on a fast-break dunk.
Hahahhaha, tp for that one..he is the only player in the NBA who got blocked everywhere..!

They're both quite undersized. The difference is Bass knows what he is, knows his limits, shuts the hell up and works hard to compensate. Baby seemed really concerned about his contract. On the other hand Bass is now in his contract year just like Baby but doesn't seem too worried about finding his own shot or showing his skill set or whatever. Every team could do with someone like that who can play (kind of like what Derek Fisher is to the Lakers, except he can't play).

Baby looked as slow as hes ever been in transition for the miami warm up games.

Bass is definitely the better option going forward.

Bass is a more aggressive, athletic player who can shoot the mid range jumper well, he is an overall better player than baby

Baby on the other hand plays really well on the inside, defense, and can pass the ball well

However I think Bass has more potential to be even better

I pick Bass

Bass is better for what we need than Baby.  He is a better shooter and rebounder but I think he is less of a positional defender but Bass is the better shot blocker to be honest.

Has Bass always been this bad on the defensive end though? If he can't rotate correctly he won't get much time out there. Baby played some solid D, if only he stayed within his range on offense and didn't think he was a superstar.

except for his height disadvantage I thought Davis played very well while here.

Davis has more bulk and daresay strength.   He can push bigs out of position.   Bass is a better leaper and therefore a shotblocker.   I think he will improve though he is still learning the system.

Bass will get time if for no other reason that we don't have enough bigs. I think that KG will get on him about team D. If he's still poor on D in a few months though, we're in trouble.

Supposedly, he was worse. Word from Orlando was that he made progress last year (which resulted in his increased playing time).

I really don't think he looked THAT bad on D. Sure, he wasn't spectacular. Baby's main advantage that he had fat AND was short (yes, believe it or not, that helps when getting posted up, because your center of gravity is lower, so it is easier to plant yourself and harder to dislodge you).
