with Green out and PP struggling to get on the court, we could certainly use another SF.

Posey knows the system and would be an easy fit.

To me, the only reason to not pick him up right now is Danny still is upset about how he left a few years ago.

A vet minimum contract is peanuts in NBA terms. If Posey can't offer anything on the court, then you can simply cut him.

You call it stubborn, I call it smart.

Peanuts or not, potentially wasting several million dollars of your basketball budget isn't something a GM can take too lightly he he wants to remain a GM.

As I said in the other thread I'm confident if the coaching staff or DA thought Posey could help the C's out they'd have offered him a contract. The fact that they haven't tells me they agreed with my assessment of Posey's play last year. (ie he's done he can no longer cut/move)

maybe so. if Posey signs with D'Antoni in NY, we'll certainly see how cooked he is.

I don't know, I think the fact that he might be completely washed up could be a reason, other than being stubborn, to pass on Posey.  I am sure Danny has the inside info on how Posey was in Indy last year.

I also don't believe for a second that Danny will not be signing another wing.  I just think he is being patient.  There are still a number of better options out there, and until they are off the table, I don't blame him for not jumping at Posey.

While, this might be the roster they go into the season with, I think free agency will be continuing to play out over at least the next few weeks.

...I also wouldn't put it past Danny to make a trade sooner, rather than later to try to get a more impactful player off the bench, perhaps using JO as contract filler.

It has only been 4 days since they learned that Green was done, and sometimes this stuff takes some time to shake out.

So, Larry Bird should be ashamed of himself, cutting such a necessary piece for a title contending team, like he's trying to build in Indiana.   :-\

Trades don't really work at this point, Chris. IMO anyway.

We need JO. we can't trade him unless we are getting a shotblocking center in return. unless someone wants Jujuan or Etwan or Avery we really don't have chips to fill roster holes.

The only other player that makes any sense is Al Thornton but sitting around waiting for him to sign elsewhere doesn't seem to get us anywhere. If we were pursuing him that would be one thing but I haven't seen reports that we are interested.

they actually are loaded at SF and the amnesty clause moves a 7 million contract off their books...

Posey is done, does anybody watch these guys after they leave? Have you seen Posey play within the past 3 years?

I recognize that and was being sarcastic... But at the same time, I think we all acknowledge that the Posey we knew and the Posey of today are two different animals.  Put a fork in the guy...he's basically done.

A couple things:

Posey still has game, if by game you mean hitting an occasional 3, making smart fouls that are really hard and borderline dirty, and giving some pretty sweet man-hugs at the start of every game.  That's about 3 more things than a guy like Pavlovic can do, and he was just given a guaranteed contract.

The reason Posey isn't here is simple: he wants more than the league minimum and that's all the Cs can offer.  If/when that changes, I see the Cs as probably being one of his preferred destinations, but until then this is all idle speculation.

The Cs have dangled (if that's the right term) their vet minimum to several as-of-yet unsigned players (like Reggie Evans for example), but I don't think you'll see this last batch of unsigned free agents finally go for the minimum until the season gets going.
Folly. Persist.
