Quote
Nets center Brook Lopez admitted he didn’t go after as many rebounds last season — partly because he “was being lazy” and also somewhat because Kris Humphries cleaned the glass so effectively Lopez said he would often “leak out” on shots by the opposing team to try to get a head start down to the offensive end.

Speaking of Humphries, Lopez was asked whether he wishes the team would re-sign the 6-9 free-agent rebounding machine.

“I’m not going to say, ‘No’ to Kris,” Lopez said. “There’s no question he helped us last year. Obviously, that’s not really in my hands. He’s doing his thing, working out in Minnesota, and that’s between the Nets or whatever team would have him. But I’d like to have him back here, yes.”

Lopez strikes me as someone who will put up nice looking numbers on poor teams but wil never have the heart to drive a contender. "I would get more rebounds but the other guy keeps grabbing them. I'm not going to say no if he wants the ball." Are you kidding me??!

This guy is not a franchise Center.

It's too bad because he has the tools.

I can't imagine Orlando will be answering the phone if this is the centerpiece of a Dwight Howard offer from the Nyets.
"      “I can make a trade every day if I want to, but that's not going to help us. A trade that would get us better rarely comes along. They're very difficult to find. Good trades are very difficult in our league and don't happen very often.”

Darn fine third best player on a title contender though.

Love to have him on the Celtics someday. I think Rondo could do great things with a center as highly skilled offensively as Brook Lopez is. It'd be a nightmare trying to keep Rondo out of the paint / stopping his playmaking.

Right now, I think he is basically a less injury prone Al Jefferson, with a little more defense and a little less rebounding.

Although, he is also still very young.  I would really love to see him go to a situation where someone would really drive him.  Perhaps playing longer with Williams would help (although I am not sure he is that kind of leader).  But, if anyone can convince him that if he puts in just a little more work, he could be a dominant player, look out.

There's only about 3 franchise centers in the league right now. Howard, Bogut, and Bynum are it after that the rest are basically role players and power forwards filling the need. Lopez isn't a franchise center, but he's better than about half of the true centers out there.

Franchise centers are like Shaq, Hakeem, Kareem and the like. Dominant players. There's maybe 1 in the league right now. If Robert Parrish were in the league he'd be in the top 2 centers and he wasn't considered a franchise player.

I was using the term loosley, the same way Pierce is referred to as a Franchise player. Anyway the idea is that Bogut, Bynum, and Howard could all be somewhere between a 1-3 option on a championship level.  When healthy they are all capable of scoring 18 points and pull down atleast ten boards while being a defensive presence nightly.

Im sorry, but this is just shoddy reporting.  It doesnt say anything about the context of his quotes, doesn't give full quotes, and doesnt appear to link to the full interview.  This is the type of journalism that gets people sued smh.

One of them has actually done so, the other two have been in the league 5-6 years with 1-2 healthy seasons each. At least PP had been the best player on teams that had won multiple playoff series at that age.

Brook Lopez being a soft big guy is not news, but in his defense I will say that if you're going to have Humphries on the floor you might as well have him doing most of your rebounding since he contributes nothing else.

He's another one of those big guys that is just a finesse big, and people often don't like that.  There is certainly value in finesse bigs, but you need another low post presence that can cover up for them physically and on the boards.

I personally would rather have Robin Lopez for the more reasonable contract.

I don't think the RealGM legal department is too concerned right now.  Do you know how difficult it is for a public figure to win a lawsuit against an actual journalist?  Unlike some wacky countries like England and France, in the US it's nearly impossible to win a libel lawsuit as a public figure.
