C'mon man.  If you are going to criticize Ainge for trading away Perk when he could have helped us win a title that year, fine, you have a valid position at least.

If you are going to point to Perk now and say "We could have him!" you are ignoring the fact that he was going to be a FA and there is no way we could come close to matching the offers he would recieve from other teams.

He was going to walk, Ainge made the decision to get some value for him.  Criticize the decision for its implications on that season if you want but don't say he is trying to look busy, it was a decision with logic to it.

C'mon man.  If you are going to criticize Ainge for trading away Perk when he could have helped us win a title that year, fine, you have a valid position at least.

Devil's advocate, but worst case scenario we could have probably signed-and-traded Perk somewhere for a large trade exception, like the Mavericks did with Tyson Chandler.  That trade exception would have been large enough for us to acquire David West.

Anyway, back to Brook Lopez, I think he's a player who would thrive next to a guy like KG, a tough-minded guy who leads on and off the court.  Lopez has a ton of talent but lacks some fire.  Going forward, NJ or Orlando or whoever has to be very careful about who they pair Lopez with.  (Hint:  BBD in Orlando is not the right answer.)

Interesting.  I do like West but honestly (and this might not be popular on this board) I would much rather have Green, just for his future potential (minus the heart issue, there was no way of knowing about that).  Still a valid point but I think Ainge made a good decision and got a player that he believed in and once drafted.  It made sense.


And yes, Lopez needs a banger alongside him.  Man, that BBD quote about getting our of KGs shadow and how no one has seen what he can do just continues to add to my "good riddance" feelings toward him.  If he is your starting PF, Brook Lopez at C or no, good luck.

I think Brook's big problem is that he's too mental. Basketball's not a sport for the thinking man - not that being smart doesn't help, you just don't wan a guy getting too caught up in his own thoughts.

Last year, Brook was pretty clearly frustrated w/ playing alongside Devin Harris, and got so upset that I thought he quit on the team. I'm sure stats would support it, but that seemed obvious as an observer.

To the Perk for trade exception for David West idea, theoretically we could have done the same thing with Jeff Green, as at the time, their value on the open market was pretty similar.

Ya, I don't present this as a flattering comment or to defend him. It's possibly something he could get over, but I kinda doubt it.

Not to say that he can't be effective, but I don't think he's got the mentality to capitalize on his talents and don't think he'll develop it.
