  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
They have more value as players then they do as trade chips.

One of the few  trades i would consider (and its only because i dont believe we could sign any big time FA) is:

To Hawks: Ray, KG, JO, Bradley

To Celtics: Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Al Horford, draft pick

Hawks basicaly start over with ton of cap space.

Celtics get financialy straped with enormous JJ contract, but gets all-star center in Horford and Rondo's buddy Josh Smith. Maybe Josh could convince Howard to join us so we can trade Horford, fillers and 2 or 3 first to Howard.

We would have basicaly all-star starting five, and if Jeff Green comes back next year we could have:

Rondo/Moore/vet.min
Johnson/clippers 2012 pick/Bradley
Pierce/Green/Daniels
Smith/Bass/JjJohnson
Horford/Wilcox/celtics 2012 pick

With that team we could be title contenders for next 5-6 years

I would love this but Atalanta would never do it. You might get JJ and Smith for Ray and KG and lots of picks but otherwise I don't see it. And honestly, I hate any lineup that puts another horrid free throw shooter on the court alongside Rondo for 30 minutes a game and during the end of games.

If Allen and KG were in their late 20's and not 30's, yeah you have some thing to trade. But why would you to begin with. But with KG at 37? and the last year of his contract why would you want to get rid of it? Just wait it out. Plus the one teams that would want KG and Allen this year would be for a championship run. Allen, yeah you could trade him and get a good return of a young player or two, and the other team would come out pretty good as well.

But KG's contract of 21 mill is just too big for a team that wants to contend. They'd have to give up way too much for that. And any team that could afford it and just wants cap space for next year would be a bad team. And how disrespectful would it be to do that to KG. The guy that brought  the D back to Boston.

Funny, i was thinking of a similar trade myself the other day.  Anyways, its not realistic.  Atlanta may trade Smith to get themselves out of JJs deal - but they would not trade Horford, and sure as hell won't trade both.  I agree with you - if we aren't going to get a free agent with cap space, why the hell would freakin Atlanta?  And besides, Boston would have to offer much much more.  At least JaJuan Johnson, and another 3 draft picks.  If Atlanta wanted to blow it up, they'd be better pairing Smith with JJ and getting back some assets and cap space.  And then, either keep Horford, or trade Horford for a boat.

Also, this is why, Danny not hitting on his draft picks over the last few years now has really hurt us.  If we drafted a little better, and added some solid young players (Giddens over Jordan and Bradley over Bledsoe are absolutely inexcuseable), then we'd have some better pieces to make a deal for an impact player, or players.

I agree with this. If KG is dealt at the deadline its to a franchise that has decided they want to start all over, or continue to be good this year while shaving future money.

Portland: LaMarcus Aldridge
Milwaukee: Andrew Bogut, Stephen Jackson, Drew Gooden(though I would have zero interest in the last two guys)
Utah: Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap
Lakers: Pau Gasol, Ron Artest(Gasol unlikely but possible and I would want Artest)(As an aside I used Artest because I didn't want to type that I didn't want World Peace)
Philadelphia: Andre Iguodala, Elton Brand
New York: Amar'e Stoudemire(to free up money for Deron Williams)
Houston: Kevin Martin, Luis Scola

Yeah I can't see any of those team giving any of those players up for KG. I like the Jefferson/Millsap one though. A Center and a PF is really what the Celts would need this year.

If an injury to a key component makes it clear that our season is heading down the toilet, I can see Ray being moved to a contender (and Ray being fine with the move).

It depends on the offer for KG, if Toronto offers Amir Johnson and a 1st round pick, yes I would trade him (cause he really sucks right now and don't be too ignorant Celtic fans, be open minded and in reality). But if I was offered Magetter and a 2nd round pick for Ray Allen, Heavens NO! Ray Allen will stay Green until his retirement (or a LeBron/Melo/Superstar offer, obviously)
Jameer an elite PG?Please, ask that to his garbage highlights.

KG sucks?!?!?!?!

I think its fairly easy to say that he isn't worth his $21 million contract but he is still one of the top defensive PFs in the league, has the sweetest outside shot ever seen on a 7'1" guy, can give you 14/8 in 30 MPG and is an unquestioned warrior and leader that you want young players to emulate.

I don't think he comes even close to the word sucks.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I'd trade Rondo, Pierce, and Allen, and I'd allow KG to expire or even offer to buy him out if he was willing to take a lot less money (I just don't think there would be good offers for KG that preserve future cap flexibility).

If Utah offered Jefferson and Millsap now for KG I would do it.
We may have to add a pick to make it happen.

We would have a center, pf,and point guard under age 26.
The future would be bright.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS shop them. We are so far behind the 8 ball they will only continue the pain for another season. I wouldn't hang a half season Banner next to those Warriors.

I say let them make a run and see how we do before we panic and blow it up.  Better deals are to be had after team's seasons crumble.

Is disagree that he wasn't worth his contract.  He was the cornerstone for a championship team and was the best defensive player in the league.

Obviously, he's not making 21 million next year, but I would say that he earned his contract
