Jeff Green's incident left Paul Pierce without a true, reliable backup. A few on here believe that we should break up the big 3 now.
I would, at this point, trade Rondo before touching the big 3 and I did not like the Chris Paul rumors (largely because I don't believe its worth throwing in so many assets for a rental who might be convinced into staying and might attract superstars).
Ray and KG would be valuable to teams already looking to contend, who will likely not give much in return as they would like to preserve their winning formula. We will also hurt our own chemistry.
The biggest thing, though, is the possibility of having them come back for dirt cheap. Having Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett coming off the bench and a lot of money to spare is very nice indeed as we step into rebuild mode in the coming few years.
That's not to say I'm not open to it. Say if Memphis has finally given up on OJ Mayo and would like to see how Ray would mesh, I would consider it. However, trading the big 3 at this point, in my opinion, is likely going to hurt more than help and there really isn't a point in stirring up rumors by putting them on the trading block.
