How many GMs break up contenders because they lose a backup small forward for the year?
I don't think KG and Ray will get traded because they have little return value at this point. But even with Jeff Green in tow I don't know that we're contenders this year. We're definitely not a top tier cotender as we have been the past 4 years, but in that 2nd tier which is really a big pool of teams.
I don't see any teams besides the Heat that would really be considered top tier contenders, and I'm not sold on that team yet. We've got as good a chance as most of the contenders.
I couldn't agree more. If you are going to break contenders into tiers, then I would say Miami is alone in the top tier.
Not that this guarantees them anything. I definitely think they can be beaten by any of the 5 or 6 teams in the next tier, which includes us and, I would say, Chicago, Dallas, OKC, LAL, and San Antonio.
After that there are teams like New York, The Clippers, possibly Memphis, and a few others that I'm not ready to place in that true contender category right now.
That's why they play the games, though. Things can change, and despite a flurry of negativity lately among a lot of the fan base, I like where we are right now with our team's chances.
